With everyone (including me) asking if one of the cars are comming to their town it got me thinking. Will either one make it to Afganistan or Iraq for a USO showing for our troops? I think it would be realy nice moral booster. It would also give some of them one more thing to looking forward to comming home to. Even a possible future car. Some of them are perfect demographics for this car as well as giving back to our troops who fight for us. Though I understand there could be a very good reason for not sending a one off car to a war zone but since there are two what about the fiberglass red one? I dont know if any concepts have ever made it to a USO showing but its a thought. Then again, I could write a book on what I dont know...

 

I know Ford Sent some Boss 429s over to NAM back in the early 70s,

That and two 1969 "Lawman" cars. There were driver courses with the mustangs, and I think 1/4 mile exhibition runs with the Lawman car. Unfortunately one of the Lawman cars was crushed by a crate in shipping I think on an aircraft carrier. Goldberg bought the surviving car. It really boosts moral.

 

I think the red one they could do, and it would be, a really great moral booster for the troops. Great idea! The silver/real one...I don't think we'll be seeing IT make any 1/4 mile exibition runs. However they could send some 4th gens,Vette's, and GTO's along with the "show" concept for some reminders of whats waiting for them when they get back home. I can recall hearing....somewhere about the NAM stuff with the cars, very cool indeed.

 

call me crazy but i think sending over a working one would boost the morale that much more. Being able to hear the engine and see it driving would do a lot. Also sending over maybe a couple modified z06's (yes modified z06's) over(maybe a blue devil/SS/whatever u want to call it corvette in z06's clothing) and do a lawman type thing would be really friggen cool.

 

If it goes it needs a stars and stripes paint scheme and the red, white, and blue ribbon needs to find a home on the concept.

BTW - They'll have LOTS of discretionary cash when they get back from Iraq and/or Syria and Iran, and I bet a car would be on the top of that list of what is going going to bought when they return.

A Corvette Targa
A Corvette Z06
A Cobalt SS

Leave the appliances (Malibu, Impala, etc..) home.

I would add Solstice and Sky if it was out. Even Hummer though they drive them everyday. After WWII many soliders bought the surplus Jeeps which started the Jeep craze in the first place.

According to the Vietnam vet who was talking to me about my 69 Camaro, thats all they could talk about over there. Getting home and buying that 69 Z28. Camao or red white and Blue as 91_z28_4me said would be cool if they ever could work something like this out.

I think the troops would appreciate it, and remind them what they are fighing for.
