The 3.1 V6 is probably the worst engine for the camaro other than the 2.8. I keep hoping that i will be able to fix it soon. does anyone know how to fix both power loss and cold naturedness with out replacing the power plant in the 92 rs?

Major Tuneup? Sparkplugs? Wires? We need more detail than just power loss... How long has it been since you've done any maintanence on the car?

well i just had a tune up done and it has a new battery and the oil has just been changed. it also has a rebuilt 350 altenator. i bought the car 2 years ago for $600 and i have always loved camaros. unfortunately this one has given me more problems than any of my other ones. think maybe being the 13th owner has anything to do with it?

Nah, It's just getting Broken In! ;)
I would say look over little things first, check fuel filter, EGR Valve (if that car actually has one being that year), 02 Sensors (likewise), Run some injector cleaner through it and see how she rides. Make sure none of your wires have burned or arch, Clean Throttle Body, Change Air Filter (although I highly doubt this would create a tremendous powerless)...
Does it seem to have a stutter or misfire at a certain RPM range or is it all around slower?

A bad fuel pressure regulator caused a pretty noticeable power loss in my old 3.1L Cavalier z24. Might be worth a shot to have your fuel pressure tested to check the pump and regulator integrity.

well i do know that that it has an o2 sensor and an egr valve but i think they were added on aftermarket. the other thing is that a young guy had owned it one of the times and had apparently tried to wire in a sound system by himself. when i first got the car there were wires and what not hanging out everywhere not really attached to anything. so i had to remove everything that didn't go somewhere and reattach it. i had a really good mechanic in my area take a look at it after i was done and he said that it looked like everything was where it should be wiring wise. as far as the fuel pump and regulator i haven't thought to check that out yet...i think i am gonna try it though. hopefully that will fix the problem as far as running. but that still leaves the issue with the electrical power loss. it doesn't really stutter or misfire but it just seems to not want to run half the time. i also have another question do you know any long time quick fix for leaks. when it rains or snows my car seems leak more water than niagra falls i have checked all the seals and they seem to be intact. but i am kinda broke so paying the money to have it all redone is a little beyond me. i reeally want to thank you guys (and gals if it applies) for your help. i feel like such an idiot but i am so used to working on carburated engines that efi eludes me. thanks again

I'd go 2.8 over the 3.1
