amean94ta 02-22-2006, 09:56 PM pretty good race and man what a nice show of sparks when the n2o backfired and u joint snapped
I got way too much money and time to risk loosing my car. I'll race for $500-$1,000 but noway am i loosing my car
TQdrivenws6 02-22-2006, 11:15 PM Yea, I saw that one. I thought it was kinda funny that they were running a stock d/s with the car on the line. Any car running on slicks and launching on the bottle should probably have something more robust.
amean94ta 02-23-2006, 12:21 AM you would think but they know they might loose the car so i am guessing they try to keep it as cheap as possiable if you seen some of these guys street racing around here pa/ny/oh most have gutted g-bodys with big blocks and spray dents/rust they just make them fast enough to survive and win some money
mthegodfather 02-23-2006, 12:29 AM It was very entertaining.
John M 02-23-2006, 02:01 AM Pinks would be a good show with one improvement: Quit with the "negotiating".
Heads up is real racing. Anything else is brackets and who bracket races for big bucks? Even the Fast & Furious didn't stoop that low, and they bent over pretty far :D
amean94ta 02-23-2006, 04:39 AM well its as close to street racing as it can get imo "heads-up" is for the track with lights but we do lengths when were negotiating a race on the street but these guys and there "lets start at 10" f that i never gave more than 5 and if you want more we dont need to be racing come back later with a better car
I watched it last night..boy did I get a suprise when I turned on the TV..I went to High school with or know almost everybody on Brian Leafs crew.. 2 of the guys with him go to my gym..sucks that he lost his car..hes had a fast mustang as long as I can remember..in HS he had a real nice blue '66 (i think not sure of the year) and he had a green lx that ran low 11's..didnt know about the white race stang though, roys body shop (the sponsor) is right up the street from my house..sucks that he lost, I missed the first race so i dont know about the gas incident...but he is a pretty cool guy..not real cocky or anything..oh well i guess he at least got his 30 mins of fame..maybe they will have a rematch..the last one i watched where the blue stang raced the black f-body that guy with the blue fox body lives right up the street too..he was with Brian leaf last night if you look closely
CANTONRACER 02-23-2006, 04:14 PM I think it stupid...keep it to money.
Broken5hift 02-23-2006, 04:23 PM the host is the worst, he looks like he's gonna fight the world for no reason.
and the races are even gayer. match the cars up so the cars dont need 50 car lengths and people with N20 have to not use it. stupidest show ive ever seen.
'88Saleen 02-23-2006, 04:35 PM Pinks would be a good show with one improvement: Quit with the "negotiating".
:D
My thoughts exactly.
When ever someone tells me thay want car lenths I tell them that I no longer need to race them because they just admitted that my car was faster.I got what I needed. Its a waste of gas and a risk to braking something to race against a car that you know for a fact is slower.
I tell them to "see me when you don't need any lenths."
Also I beleive the guy Justin that won , races in the NMRA.

i think its pretty cool..the cars could be a little more evenly matched though..1 or 2 lengths is no big deal..but when you ask/expect 5-6 or more..get a faster car..also..why dont they leave with the tree?? if its heads up.?.obviously it wont work with lengths...but even up, it will eliminate the "false start" BS..if you redlight you redlight..simple
ABA383 02-23-2006, 06:12 PM Brian was supposed to run a different car. Pinks wanted a heads up scenario with similarly priced/matched cars. The other guy no showed the day of the show so Brian had to race the alternate which was a high dollar race car. Brian had as much in his whole car as the guy had in his heads! Brians car had a 122,000 miles junkyard 302 (not 331 like Pinks said) with a E303 cam and a big shot of nitrous. Had Brian known he'd be running that kind of car he'd have built something more along those lines...He gave it a pretty good go of it anyway. He's working on a convertable with a 331 and a 300 shot..It should be fairly quick...

yeah, i kind of realized there was a little mismatch when they other guy pulled his front tires up about 4 ft off the ground..Brian def gave him a run for the money..he busted his ass replacing the drive shaft and u joints in 15 mins...
Jeff 96 SS 02-24-2006, 05:00 PM Brian didn't change anything it was the guys I brought with me from MSP brian was about to hand over the keys when they stopped him. They left out so much stuff from that race. I wonder what mine will look like I bet they make me look like an ass but oh well. They have so much footage they can make any show they want.

ABA383 02-24-2006, 05:12 PM You gotta love editing...I can't wait to see Brians convertable that should be done by Spring OC...Brian did put on a good show with his "junker" though. I bet things would've ended a little differently had the u-joint/DS held at that 4000rpm launch. I did give him a little crap for taking that initial "win"...but who knows what any of us would do with lights and cameras in your face...Brian builds some fast stuff...I liked his old '66...

Jeff 96 SS 02-24-2006, 05:22 PM Were you their for my race? I had a similar situation and didn't take the win. You are right I think he would have got him if it wasn't for the driveshaft breaking cause that last race he would have had more lenghts 2.5 wasn't near enough he needed seven or better.

ABA383 02-24-2006, 05:51 PM I wasn't there at all...Just talked to Brian before and after the race...Then again after the show aired...I couldn't make it down to MIR...had to be a dad...Brian also said that the backfire took out 3 cylinders...It wasn't pulling like it had before...Oh well, thats show biz...Who did you race and what happened?
