Ok, I'm looking for a fourth gen as a daily driver.
Actually there are two cars that i'm interested in:
'00 auto, silver 5k miles, t-tops, black leather (Most that are over here in Europe are automatics)
and
'98 6-speed, 40k miles, black, tan leather

Is there anything better or worse on the '00 than on the '98.

I'm kinda leaning towards the '98 because it has 6-speed.

What would you choose?

for all intents and purposes...they are the same.

there are some minor changes in things like injector size, coil pack arrangement, and orientation of some of the emissions provisions.

but basically...they are the same.

chose by which one you like better

I would choose the '00, cause its newer with less miles. Also, 98 is the 1st year the LS1 engine came out, could be a few bugs to work out of it...if there was any problems with the 98 year, I dunno..:(
