A friend is selling me the following tires: 15 inch MT ET Streets, 28.00 x 11.50 wide... I need to know if this tires are too wide for a 96 LT1 or if I will have any type of problem running them?

(Part No. MTT-3754)

Thanks for you advice! :)

That's a lot of tire... but it should fit. M/T shows the specs as 11.1" wide, 8.6" tread width and 27.6" diameter. I've run a 28x11.5-15 Hoosier QTP, which specs out to 11.2" wide, 10.0" tread width and a 28.0" diameter. The wheel wells had already been hammered for 315's. The tires started to grow enough and rub on the front metal edge of the fenders when trap speeds approached 130MPH. Moving the axle back about 1/4" solved that problem. With the ET Streets being a slightly smaller diameter, and a bit narrower than the QTP's, you shouldn't have any problems. The 27.6" size is going to make your 3.73 gears feel like you swapped in a 3.51 (if there was such a gear). Unless you are making 600HP or more, you probably don't need the added weight, inertia and diameter of a 28" tire.

Depends on the wheels.... There are 15" wheels that will fit with no grinding of the calipers, ranging from the 15x8 Centerline TelStars to the 15x9.75" Bogart P1's. The rotors will not interfere with any 15's I've tried to fit on the back.
