Weld-In KB DD SFC Questions

I did a search and read everything that came up but did not get
an answer, so here goes. I bought a set of KB DD SFCs for my
convertible and have some questions.

1) Will I need to remove any interior items so that the welding does
not melt or damage anything?

2) How do the SFCs fit relative to the X-brace? I had to slightly
modify the X-brace for my true dual exhaust but it still bolts in the
stock location.

3) Do the SFCs need to be painted or coated? Should I have them
powder coated? I know that any paint or coating will need to be
removed at the weld points.

4) The SFCs will be installed with the car on the ground (over a pit),
is this correct?

I will have the local muffler shop do the install. I've know the owner
for 25 years and he is an excellent welder and fabricator.

Mine were welded on with the car on stands in a driveway... so you should have no problem doing it over a pit.

I didn't paint mine, they came with a gold anodize or something like that on them and have held up well (been on for about 6 years).

My car is a hardtop so I don't know about the vert issues.

You won't have any heating problems (unless the guy who's welding them up does something REALLY stupid)... don't worry about interior trim.

Hey, you replied to my post about vert SFC's :) If you could grab some pictures from the install it would really really answer a lot of questions for me! Let us know if you notice a big improvement over just the stock SFC's...

LS1speed has them listed for sell. Does anyone else sell these as well?

Mmmm... pictures may be tough... for one thing it's winter and my Z doesn't see snow and salt, for another thing the car is lowered and there's not a lot of room under there to get a decent picture. I'll see what I can do.

Oh i was actually referring to truedualws6's post :) But if you could snap some pictures that would be just as good! My car is lowered as well.. any clearnace issues with your KB DD's?

Lol... oops.

no clearance issues... I don't believe the subframes stick down that low compared to other parts of the car (not that I've specifically looked), not sure if that's still true with a convertable.

I will do that and post some pictures. The SFCs should be here tomorrow and
I plan on having them installed on Monday (2/20).

I originally ordered them from LS1speed and was told that KB is no longer in
business. They suggested the SLPs or BMRs. I cancelled the order and then
did some more searching. Ended up buying them from Thunder Racing. Cost
me $50 more, but at least I got them (or will get them tomorrow). I still don't
know exactly why LS1speed gave me the song and dance.

Is KB still in business?

The SFCs came in yesterday (delayed from Friday), so they will not be going in
for a week or so. Had it all set up for yesterday, but had no SFCs to weld in.

Other than being a little bent at the LCA attachment bracket, they look really
nice. Probably got dropped of the back of the truck. I just pushed things back
into place with my arbor press. Once I get them installed I'll take some pics
and post them. I'm still tempted to have them powder coated black, or maybe
even white since the car is white.
