00cls1camaross 02-11-2006, 11:58 AM the guy said:
350- ls6 used intake
210- intall the ls6
100- sfc install
that seems too much for everything anyone agree?
PhantomTA 02-11-2006, 03:17 PM That charge to do the intake is WAY over priced. The subframes well, it isnt horrible, but its not cheap either. Ive seen 60-125 for subframes.
SFB767 02-11-2006, 05:19 PM Yeah, I too think that LS6 install price is too steep, I've never done it, but it doesn't seem too involved.
The SFC install price seems reasonable, just make sure the guy knows what he's doing, because this is a very important installation that needs to be done correctly. My install was $160 and they're in there just about as perfect as they can possibly be.
00cls1camaross 02-11-2006, 05:34 PM well i went down there and they charged me 70 for my sfcs; the company is az power and sound and the guy that was selling the intake was trying to sell it for 400 to me, he was being a douche since i am a 17 yr old and i think he didnt realize that ti knew they were 400 dollars new... amazing, i hate people like that. i guess i will try to find a different shop down here in az after this
2001NBMZ28 02-11-2006, 06:19 PM $70 for the SFC's isn't bad - get a new intake and do it yourself. Helped a friend do his and it's not that hard, neither of us had done it before. We used the guide at ls1howto.com
lt1camaroman93 02-11-2006, 07:03 PM If the guy is going by the book, the intake manifold is 3 hours pay.
00cls1camaross 02-11-2006, 07:39 PM yeah installing it myself is out of the quesiton since the only real things i can to to my car are minimal ie free mods, air intake stuff, and oil change... im still seriously learning how to do everything and understand stuff. maybe ill ask someone to come help, thanks for the suggestion though
how long did it take you 2 to do it?
70 bucks an hour.... holy crap lol, guess you have to make money right ;)
2001NBMZ28 02-11-2006, 08:08 PM Took us just over 4 hours, taking our time; a buddy will defeintely help. Look over that guide and see if you want to try it - definitely save you some $, and you'll learn alot, even if it takes two days to get it done.
00cls1camaross 02-11-2006, 08:18 PM yeah, we will see if my dad will chop my head off if he notices that i changed the intake. i always have to find things i can change/put on that he wont notice lol, he is against me donig things to the car. i guess ill think about it, but first i have to convince that guy to sell me his ls6 intake for 300
Greed4Speed 02-11-2006, 09:07 PM Seems naive to buy for or allow a teenager to buy a car like ours and think it won't get modded or that they won't want to mod it.
00cls1camaross 02-11-2006, 09:13 PM lol yeah i know, considering he had a 76 chevy scottsdale full bolton and cammed truck... when he was my age... i told him that speed runs in our blood... the funny thing is, is that my grandpa used to race horses in mexico before he moved to the us
Greed4Speed 02-11-2006, 10:15 PM LOL
And I bet Amish teens feed their horses corn and race lightened buggies. Modding is a natural thing.
Take a look on corvetteforum.com for a used intake. Don't know if there are any on there right now, but the guys selling stock parts off their cars usually sell them pretty cheap. Good luck.
00cls1camaross 02-13-2006, 01:31 PM thanks, i will... i read over the installaion guide on ls1howto.com and it seemed straight forward... guess maybe ill try it
Kraest 02-13-2006, 05:58 PM If you can wait until next week, I'll have an assortment of things coming off my Vette.
LS6 Intake
28# injectors
241 Casting LS1 heads w/titanium retainers and PRC Dual Springs
etc.
Mike
00cls1camaross 02-13-2006, 10:52 PM yeah i can, and honestly i trust you better than the batches as az power and sound
teke184 02-14-2006, 07:58 AM i don't know....i hear that Kraest guy is a faker...and a scammer...and a...a...big do-do head.
;)
j/k
Greed4Speed 02-14-2006, 09:46 PM LS6 intakes around here are going for $275.
00cls1camaross 02-15-2006, 09:20 AM well i guess that is how much i hopefully pay for one! then i can just wait until i go down to new mexico and have my uncle help me out... he is a hardcore government mechanic
