painting stock SS wheels
painting stock SS wheels
I have chrome 10 spoke wheels on my car and was wondering about getting them painted black, but keeping a polished lip. Anyone ever done this or know of a place I can get them instead? Thanks
Re: painting stock SS wheels
Sell them and get some inexpensive painted 10 spokes. Strip the paint off the lip and you'll find a nice machined surface already there.
The painted wheels have the same shiny machine work under the paint that the 35th Anv wheels have.

Re: painting stock SS wheels
I have some painted ones now that I got in a trade for my stock 16's and the paint could use some refreshing as well. However if the wheels are actually machined under the paint, wouldnt it look good to just strip the paint and go with a machined look? I am asking because when I stripped another set of the stock 16's 5-spokes, only the lip was machined, the rest was pretty rough metal, with a layer of factory primer over that. I don't want to begin to strip these just to find out that they are not fully machined, but rather just the lip is. If that is the case, I would rather just sand and repaint the silver, maybe just strip the lip. Can anyone on here confirm 100% how the metal finish is underneath the paint on the 10-spoke SS wheels?
