Sway bar size

Does anyone know what size the front and rear sway bars come stock on a 1996 camaro convertable V-6 manual transmission. If not how do you measure them. I know its diameter so to get that is it accurate to use a little math... measure the circumfrence and us the pie r^2 formula? I dont know what ones I have on mine but they look thicker than the ones I had on my 85 and 89 firebirds with v-6's

I think the V6 gets 30mm front and 15mm rear bars

The base V8's get 30mm and 17mm.

WS6 or SS get 32mm and 19mm

Close, v8's got 30mm front, 19mm rear.

WS6, SS got 32mm front, 21mm rear.

Get a calipers and measure the outside of the bar, I think using math would be innaccurate unless you have everything perfect. Calipers works great, just measure it in the middle, not the sides.

Thanks. Does getting a thicker sway bar on a v-6 help the handling of this car or wont effect it if its any thicker than the stock size? If so what size do you recomend. Sould you only get thicker sway bars if you put a bigger more powerful motor or would this help on any size motor going around corners at high speeds.

Larger swaybars should be chosen carefully.

For starters, you shouldn't make any drastic changes in size without getting shocks and springs that match the sways. There are lots of people that will talk to you about what sizes/combos work best for the type of driving you will do.
