Stang owners fear future Camaro...

...and they should too.

IDK if you guys have read up at all on what the competition thinks, but I think it's pretty interesting. To my surprise, the vast majority (based on what I read) seem to like the new Camaro - and they're all talking S/Cs now for their rides ;)

I love the comment in one of the threads about the majority of Camaro owners being female...

The guys over at blueovalnews.com seem, for the most part, to be quite taken with it...

If GM ever built a camaro that looked that euro I would throw-up
I hate euro look-- can I say it again I hate anything euro in a muscle car.
If you like that just go buy you a MB and get on with it

That's so ugly I'd only drive it with a bag over my head. But I could see it getting produced.

Euro???

What's Euro about it? I think it's a BelAir and GTO PS'd together.

Well, you should've gotten sick a long time ago. It's well known that the 2nd gen cars had strong european influence.

I don't care what it is....it's ugly...and I do fear it, just not in a run like hell sort of way.

Well I guess thats why I bought several of the other gen camaro's but not several 2nd gens I never liked them either. Without a new camaro we hope to get the 3 best looking cars out are the Vette, The Caddy Vert, and the Mustang

IMO at least, the 3rd and 4th gen's lineage is off the 2nd gen...

Which is why with the Camaro concept, they only show the 1st gen...

However, the concepts got a great profile, lowslung and wide (which was the look they were going for on the 2nd gen, based on european exotics), which is the best thing I liked about the 4th gen.. So I'm still happy.. :)

That "Bel Air" concept may be yet another case of GM squandering a perfectly good and nostalgic brand name . . . It is really awful looking. It's shape is really uninspired and derivative of some previous GM vehicles . . .

Let that PS remain as a perfect model for all those who scream that the Camaro isn't modern enough and sports too much retro-ness.

lol

and to the post directly above this one: I agree...

to anyone who thinks th new concept is retro, lets see some PSs of a non-retro version (in your eyes). The concept is perfect - they could have gone retro, and originally were. Hell, why didn't they? They could have sold it - Challenger is liked by many and Stang sales are high - but instead they took a chance and created a modern muscle car that was born of gen 1 Camaros. They brought back a legend - they didn't create a new one. That is what we wanted, isn't it? If it had zero hint of Camaro in it and was completely modern, why call it a Camaro? Then people would rather the legend stay dead. This was the only way to bring it back as a 5th gen - now that they have included "new" aspects into the Camaro, maybe they will build off of those instead of the older 1st gen aspects for gen 6. This may be unclear - and I don't think I'm saying it well, but I think that in some way including some of the past was completely necessary, and the new Camaro will serve as a nice building block for future Camaros. And who's gonna care anyway if there is a 500hp option? :D

You know this is all fun to kick around the things we like and don't but do you now think they already did their research on this car and what you see if it comes back is set in stone now so to speak. Scott said the inside will change some but not much and I don't see them spending $15,000,000 more to almost start over. I love the car inside and out and they things I don't care for is alot less than things I did not care for in past models. It is improved in every way so I am happy. Name me one car ever built you would not change something on to suit just you and I will rest my case. I like my 4th gens but are there things I hate about it you bet but I bought 5 of them and there is alot less wrong with this car than a 4th gen or any other gen for that matter

Uh, using a retro Bel Air for a design basis for a Camaro IS going retro.
You CAN go modern and not make it look like that mess.

As for designs that would make it non-retro? Take a look at any Front engine Ferrari, Aston Martain, or any other Euro GT coupes. All modern, all agressive, all powerful and sexy. Camaro has drawn off European design since 70.

It can also give them room to expand the model in later years. I like the car in general and hope it comes out.

As far as the Ford loosers driving thier POS Mudstangs:confused: , on the road...they are going to see alot of the back end.:D
