Lincoln also is reportedly developing a compact sport sedan based on the phenomenally popular Ford Mustang.
SNEAKY NEIL 01-20-2006, 01:26 PM The question of the day is: Will it be good enough to be competitive with vehicles like the CTS and CTSv?
I don't know too much about the platform, but is it a good enough base to do a high luxury/high performance sedan that will compete? I wonder what engine they will stick in there? SC 4.6?
Stealth 86 LSC 01-20-2006, 01:32 PM most likely 4v base, SC 4v top. possibly even more (wonder what happened to that 5.8 v10...)
Smart move. A 400HP Lincoln Sedan for $45,000 is just what they need to boost the brands image.

Typo on their part...
It will be a Mercury.;)
HAZ-Matt 01-20-2006, 02:25 PM I heard that
it's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up;
That Model A body makes it look like a pup.
It's got 12 cylinders and uses them all;
And an overdrive that just won't stall.
It's got a 4-barrel carb and dual exhausts,
4:11 gears that really get lost -
Safety tubes and I'm not scared,
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.

But as a sedan? I could see a quad coupe but not traditional sedan.
91Z28350 01-20-2006, 03:39 PM Reborn Cougar ?
guionM 01-20-2006, 04:21 PM Ford is indeed working on a Mustang based sedan for Lincoln-Mercury. That much I can verify.
I honestly don't know which division is going to get it, but I wouln't call it "compact" unless you consider the Milan compact.
BTW: there is at least one other vehicle based on D2C planned for LM. Unfortunately, this is all I'm able to get out of anyone. :(
Stealth 86 LSC 01-20-2006, 04:40 PM please please please let it be a mark. Id be happy to see a decent new mark (nothing against the mks or x, but yeah)

Thats what I was thinking, maybe something with the styling of the Messenger concept from a few years ago

Ok, do I need to do my Col. Hogan to get it out of you? Would you like some chocolate or some stockings for Mrs Shultz? :D

You are DA MAN!!! :bow:
Only a few of us on this board would even know what I am referring to.
I knew I liked you for a good reason!:cool:

I'd still rather let someone else get the heat for leaking.
German firing squads can be really tough on a guy.
Let's just say guys like you and me will like it.;)
Quad coupe version of the Mustang named Couger would be great for Mercury
Sixer-Bird 01-23-2006, 10:26 PM I always thought the Messenger was a great looking concept. It'd be nice to see something based on that design. (does anyone else see early Sting Ray in it though, or is that just me?)
Omegalock 01-25-2006, 12:06 AM Sweet. Now we just need the Firebird and the Cuda back and things will be right with the world once again.

'Cuda, not likely.
Firebird, I'm officially raising the possibility to 50/50 since the GTO isn't going to be a Camaro spinoff (it still could be a Camaro quad coupe, though).
HAZ-Matt 01-26-2006, 01:28 PM Hurray for Firebird!
