Hypertech issues

I bought a hypertech programmer for a 94 Z28 and never installed it. I recently sold it on ebay, and when plugged in a battery it says insert cartridge then restart cartridge 5155 regquired. Anyone know anything about this. The hypertech is power programmer plus, the one thats red. Any help would be much appreciated.
