The production version of the Microbus concept was canned a year or so ago. Just last week VW and Chrysler announced that Chrylser is going to build VW a version of their longbased next-gen minivan but the styling wont look anything like the microbus concept.

After seeing alot of GM concepts on this thread it made me realize that GM puts rear suicide doors on alot of their concepts eventhough the Saturn Ion Quadcoupe is currently the only GM production 'car' that uses them.:confused:

Go back and count how many GM concepts have rear suicide doors in this thread, I think you might be surprised.

Even today, the Probe V remains the most aerodynamic driveable car in the world, with a Cd of .137. Ford claimed it could cruise at 50mph on just 5hp - 2 of which were used to break head pressure, the rest were drivetrain losses and electrical power consumed!!!:eek:

Agreed, but I think the Ford Contour concept from 1991 looks ready for production today as-is in the old photo. I don't know why but I LOVE that car.
A blown Vulcan 3.5 in that car with a 6-spd would ROCK IMO.

Another interesting observation is that GM was really big on the 'all black' greenhouse on concept cars in the mid-to-late 1980's. That styling technique made its way to the 1993 Camaro/Firebird and I do remember a special edition Corvette as well that also had the blacked-out green house.
