3_z28camaro 01-16-2006, 07:44 PM I was just curious if anyone else has heard this. Is the Camaro concept going to be thrown in the crusher? I heard from another board that in two weeks the concept will be flattened. I know that this is sometimes normal practice but this is the Camaro, it is special. Would they really crush a $15 million car that means so much to so many people?
formula79 01-16-2006, 07:47 PM Someone is full of crap. It will go in the GM Collection once it's time is over. They do crush production prototypes though.
Koldnrg 01-16-2006, 07:48 PM Whats sad is "when" I win the powerball I still wouldn't be able to buy it off of them, They better not crush it though, it belongs in one of their museums
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 01-16-2006, 07:49 PM That would be funny...Didn't they say that it cost $8 million to make? Someone is pulling your leg.
At the very least it'll be touring during the entire show season.
Koldnrg 01-16-2006, 07:56 PM 15 million to build, as mentioned above, ^
JasonD 01-16-2006, 08:01 PM Not even close to being true. They have a schedule for the car going into late this year, and many more dates are expected to be added.

We will not see this car get scrapped for MANY years to come...if ever.
Where the heck was this said?
3_z28camaro 01-16-2006, 08:08 PM I read it on another Camaro site I frequently look at.

I had a hard time believing this too because I knew that the car was scheduled for many more shows and GM would have a bunch of VERY angry Camaro enthusiasts if they crushed it.
GETGONE 01-16-2006, 08:41 PM Man there are some IGNANT people out there!!!
DrewSG 01-16-2006, 09:03 PM I know 1983(?) Corvettes that made it out were destroyed by GM, thats why only 1 exists from that year.
But I'm sure after this car makes it tours, it'll be retired to the GM museum.
GETGONE 01-16-2006, 09:19 PM 83 Vettes were pre-production mules. That's why they were destroyed. There were only 13 made I believe. The last remaining is in the National Corvette Museum. After seeing the GM Heritage museum I'm sure the Camaro concept is destined a place there alongside the last 4th gen Camaro and Firebird.
LS1_Disciple 01-16-2006, 09:33 PM Speaking of the last 4th gen, I wonder how the guy that paid $70K to own the last Camaro (available to the public at least) feels now?
"Great, now I own the second to last Camaro ever made (until they make the fifth gen)."
:D

That is a pretty wild statement. I am surpised it even got noticed for it being so outlandish. Don't worry, it is not true.

To some people stuff like that is a big deal . That car was still the end of an era . If it were to be sold , another collector will snatch it up qwik .
GETGONE 01-16-2006, 09:43 PM Too bad it was produced on August 27th and not August 31st. I'd love to have the last Camaro made on my birthday. I haven't seen the guy or the car since it was presented to him at Berger Chevy in October of 2002.
0toinsanein5.4sec 01-16-2006, 10:37 PM lol theyre not going to crush the concept that has made quite possibly the biggest splash for a gm concept ever
RussStang 01-16-2006, 10:48 PM If GM every decided they didn't want the concept any longer (unlikely), they would probably auction it off. Ford did this with many of their concepts a few years back. I can't believe someone actually bought that ugly ass early 90s Mach III concept.
Big Als Z 01-17-2006, 12:31 AM Yeahhhhhh ok.
They should put this next to the Y Job and the LeSaber!!
Kidding, but I dont think taht they should crush it. What could possibly help spawn an enthusiastic come back for GM, I dont think so.
zhevy-1 01-17-2006, 02:14 AM In an interview I saw on TV, Csere Csaba I believe is his name -Car and Driver Magazine Chief Editor- said the car will go to the crusher.
That doesn't mean the car won't be built, I can only speculate it will be pretty close to what the concept looks like, which in my opinion is just awesome, and mean looking.
RussStang 01-17-2006, 02:16 AM Well, his info sounds like it is wrong, because I doubt GM is just going to throw away a 15 million dollar concept like that.
GETGONE 01-17-2006, 08:15 AM The Csaba is an idiot. It's amazing he runs a car magazine because he's negative about every vehicle made just about unless it's some fancy *** or European car. I don't believe a damn thing he says.
poSSum 01-17-2006, 08:19 AM Fbodfather would handcuff himself inside the car before he let it get crushed. Ain't gonna happen.
Mike2001SS 01-17-2006, 08:42 AM They are maybe talking about the car in the LA show as it was a fiberglass with no running gear but the real car will be at shows all this year and maybe next till the car comes back out. Then GM will put it in their collection
Bob Cosby 01-17-2006, 08:55 AM Man there are some IGNANT people out there!!!

I know it's spelled wrong. It's a joke from some old TV show. Went something like "What is ya, Ignant?" IGNORANT!!! That better?!?!?!

Dude...I was just poking a little fun. No offense was intended.

GETGONE 01-17-2006, 03:34 PM I know you were...just letting you know I'm not "ignant" myself.
Capn Pete 01-17-2006, 03:35 PM Actually, I've already been in negotiations with GM to purchase the concept after its finished the show circuit at the end of the year. However, GM has stated that no modifications may be made to the concept as they still hold the rights to the design. I am free to drive and show the car as I please, but they still reserve the right to borrow the concept for future shows. I'd rather not get into specifics, but the cost was certainly in line with a 1 of 1 concept with such mass appeal.

Oh, let's see how long this one takes to circulate! Hee hee!!!
Fbodfather 01-17-2006, 03:47 PM it is not going to the crusher.
we can never sell it.........but it will go in the GM Heritage collection....along with many other concepts.
Don't believe everything you hear or read......now......please......someone post on NastyZ28 that this is not true........and IF it were one of my people at the show, I'll take immediate steps to set them straight.

Otherwise I will let them know.:D
2K1SunsetSS 01-17-2006, 07:12 PM I would pay money to see it crushed and the designers start over with a new piece of paper.

Now if you were Jay Leno and you needed parts, you would have a chance .....Go figure!!!
He was able to "Obtain" two pre-production C6's for his Toronado project.
