MasterEvilAce 01-11-2006, 03:42 PM The renders were futuristic.. I thought they were cool.. definitely not something I'd want to have though. From seeing the pictures people took of the interior in real life... I have to say.. not good. It definitely looks aged. Nothing looks as clean as the render did. Just looks gawdy.
My vote is for a completely modern interior with a sense of Camaro to it.
SFireGT98 01-11-2006, 03:45 PM I didnt think it was AS bad as some people are making it out to be. But by the looks of it, it would most likely be toned down for production, especially the gauges.
stars1010 01-11-2006, 03:45 PM I think it looks really cool, AS A CONCEPT INTERIOR
But I just want something more modern too, I think thats most peoples thoughts....I said this 3 times now on here this week....
Main thing though for is NO RECESSED GAUGES PLEASE!
I love the C6 inteiror and gauge arrangment,
Hear that gumbydammit? ;) :D
72 Z27 01-11-2006, 03:53 PM Here is the pic I took of the interior

I think it would be nice if the kept the overall design of the interior, but tone down the gauges.
95GRNZ 01-11-2006, 03:56 PM Luckily it is just a concept interior. It's fine and dandy for a concept, but I don't think it would not work in a production vehicle without modifications.
Recessed gauges seem to be the way to go in retro-themed cars, so...

I agree with that.....
Just modernize/ change up the dash and gauges
Keep the theme in a sense, just moderninze....it really deos look cool
I'm going to say it agian and Ill keep saying it till it just doesnt matter any more.
I LIKE THE C6 GUAGES AND DASH
MasterEvilAce 01-11-2006, 03:58 PM I don't mind the seats. The fronts look comfy. The rears look a bit stiff or boring.. but it's cool. I don't like any of the front though.. the entire dash / console I just don't like. The actual first gen dash/gauges look sexy.. However I don't think you can pull it off with plastic.
The only thing I like is how the dash wraps around with the doors.
MasterEvilAce 01-11-2006, 03:59 PM I LIKE THE C6 GUAGES AND DASH
You know what?
I agree completely.
Fenster 01-11-2006, 04:19 PM I really like the seats. Hope they keep a colored stitch as an option for the production version. Love to see a red car w/ red stitching!!!

if you take a look at Bob's video blog from yesterday he mentioned components that are listed as "gotta haves" for the possible production version. As well as many exterior features, he listed the three spoke steering wheel, large recessed gauges, and the console gauge pod as some of the interior features that are central to the design.
MarcR94v6 01-11-2006, 04:27 PM The fuel/oil/etc. gauges may not be as poorly placed as people think. Maybe it's one of those things where only until you drive it do you go, "oh....that's not too bad at all..".
If they are, however, they will indeed change them. As they said, this car will not be rushed, as some of the previous 4th gens were.
wrastler 01-11-2006, 04:30 PM I like the look...but I've got a weird sense of likes  I think it'd look better with the trim a different shade like in the rendering...something along Daytona Charger type, SOM exterior with SOM painted interior trim panels:D
RighteousReaper 01-11-2006, 04:30 PM The interior is beautiful. I love how the speedometer and tach take up the entire space behind the steering wheel, won't be any problem viewing them. I also like how they put all the other gauges in the center behind the shifter.
Bert02SS 01-11-2006, 04:34 PM IMO, putting critical gauges down by your right knee is moronic. Not worthy of a serious concept car.

...because if you're not checking them every couple seconds something disastrous will surely happen. They're still easily viewable.

I dunno about most guys, but when I race the car, I like to keep one eye on the oil pressure guage especially when auto x'n and depending on the type of day drag racing. For normal driving, it'd probably be a non issue, but when throwing the car around turns, its kinda hard to be looking down at my knee to see what the oil pressure is...
cfdemarco 01-11-2006, 06:21 PM Overall I think the interior is looking pretty good so far. Yeah, it's a bit on the retro side, but I think it's a cool throwback to the old school cars.
Plus, you have to admit that the overall quality of the materials look to be much higher than that of the most recent fbods...

I knew I was missing something that Bob had talked about in the key features... if you look at the panel between the two gauges there's an information display. I'm sure it will serve as a number of "idiot lights" that will draw your attention to the gauges if the need presents itself.
It doesn't take me any longer to look to the right than it would down. When you're looking at the gauges your attention isn't on the road anyway.
Sixer-Bird 01-11-2006, 07:27 PM As crazy as it sounds, I've actually gotten accustomed to the acre of dashboard on the 4th gens I've owned. It makes it kinda cozy.
But, I alas, I am glad to see that we'll likely be getting a more "normal" dash size wise. As far as the concept's dash goes, I think it looks very interesting from a pure style standpoint, but the ergonomics look to have taken a backseat so to speak. I can already hear that auto rag moans of "the guages on the console are too hard to read when driving!" etc. (not that we really give a damn about what they think). When I first saw the leaked concept interior pics, my first thought was: "I wonder how they'll pull that off on the actual car." I just hope that the gauges they use are easy to read and that the shifter fits right into my hand naturally. Being 6'2, the 4th gen's shifter fits perfectly for the reach of my arm. One of the biggest complaints that I've had against SN95 Mustangs is that I have to reach for the shifter.
RhinoSS 01-11-2006, 07:31 PM One thing that will definately have to change is the center dash where the radio is housed. It doesn't have room for the enormous "Delphi special" that GM loves putting in their vehicles. I would look for a complete redesign of that area.
99SilverSS 01-11-2006, 07:40 PM I wouldn't worry too much about the interior. Obviously for production GM will have to make the dash of cheaper material and then I would expect the guages to move behind the wheel. They also have to put a place for a radio and HVAC controls within easy reach from the driver. The concept interior is more for a styling exercise, just throwing some interesting ideas out. Once they go for production the mandated distances for reaching controls and line of sight angles with have to be obeyed and the dash will get closer to "normal". For those who like the style I bet GM will try to keep it close and for those who don't like it, well how close it is in the eye of the beholder.
UHP-CAMARO 01-11-2006, 08:31 PM What the interiour really needs is::D
