Newbie needs help with transmission swap

I have an 87 Z28 with the 305 and currently automatic transmission. I would like to convert it to a manual transmission. Does anybody know how difficult this is and whether or not a new drive shaft will be required, and any other information you could tell me about the swap would be greatly appreciated.
