ok well the mods are in my sig and it has been dyno tuned but im still 1000 miles under the breakin milage and im beginning to wonder if im gonna break the rearend when i launch it at the track for the first time. ill be on 14 psi and i rejetted the nitrous kit to a 100 shot for now. im hoping to hit 600 rwhp. do you think i need to goahead and purchase a strange 9" and just install it when i do break the stocker?

You should be alright until you get the power to the ground... ie, good sticky tires.

It's gonna break unless ya got 7.50/14 whitewalls!!!!
You will be fine. I just watched a vid of a 750rwhp turbo ls1 giving it hell with the stock 10bolt. Lots of smoke but the rear is fine and this is with 275/40/17 tires!

I ran 7s in the 1/8 too a few times before it blew up :(

Ya just luckier than most.;)
Another thing I don't want anybody to have to find out the hard way what happens when an axle gear fractures on the line and lets go about the 1/8 mile mark. BTDT it ain't pretty.

well the track doesnt open untill april i think and by then there will be a strange 9" with either 373's or 410's . who knows i might tub it out and add a fuel cell too. i guess i need to order a beefy dirveshaft and some heavy duty u joints too. i know by the end of the year i will hopefully have a 800 rwhp car and walking the tires off the line. and maby it will still be a daily driver. ;)

some people are lucky..some arent..my friend was running 11.99's on a 10 bolt with 4.11s..countless passes. Me on the other hand..I had an auburn pro posi with 4.11's went through 2 sets of 4.11's in a week b4 switching to 3.73's.Which then lasted 4 months with only 2 track visits. IMHO 10bolts suck. I even "heard" 12 bolts suck..from a few people...but I know they hold up a hell of alot longer than 10 bolts..its all luck if you think about it.Like peoples stock motors holding a 175shot...and some not holding..headers..ok im done rambling

since you are an auto it will hold a little better than a M6...but it will not last long....I ran the 10 bolt with 3.42's behind my 396 for a couple trips to the track but switched to a 12 bolt ASAP

You know I hear this alot too. I'mn beggining to wonder if these same people are comparing the ones out of 3/4 ton trucks to the regular 10 bolt or what. Either way it all seems to be opinion and no real experiance. Irritating when they say "you're stupid to buy a 12 bolt, get a 9"

12 bolt is lighter and takes less power to turn
9" is a little stronger and easier to change gears
It all depends on the combination on which one is right for each car.
I agree that for a 800+hp car, go with a 9"
