Darth Xed 01-09-2006, 03:00 PM The front end is really giving me the same "Electric Razor" vibe that has been brought up about the new styling direction of Lincoln......
It kind of makes me think of my Braun Synchro foil shaver......
Please don't flame me too hard..... I'm really trying to get a feel for this car, but it's fighting me.
jawzforlife 01-09-2006, 03:01 PM I know what you mean
RoMaD 01-09-2006, 03:03 PM I share your thought a little bit, but that's something that can be easily corrected with an aftermarket grille. It doesn't bother me that much. What bother me(?) is that it appears I'm the only one who likes the back end. I like that there's not much to it.
Ray86IROC 01-09-2006, 03:07 PM What bother me(?) is that it appears I'm the only one who likes the back end. I like that there's not much to it.
The rear end is one of my favorite parts, the chiseled shoulders/quarter panels and the general shape of the trunk lid are downright awesome. The only area on the exterior I don't really like the tailpipes, but those are so easy to change (and I would anyway as I'll be getting a catback/axleback exhaust of some kind anyway) that it's almost not worth noting...
Darth Xed 01-09-2006, 03:10 PM OK, while I'm at it, let me add one other thing that I think is bothering me....
When I look at the car, I get an unpleasant "low rider" feel from it too... It almost looks like a So-Cal chopped-top 69-ish car in profile, and with the overly large wheels, it's like I'm waiting for the hydraulics to kick in and watch it start bouncing around or something. :blah:
(FWIW, I like the styling of the wheels, but I think they are too big... 19"s or so would be enough, IMO.)

The rear is the part that I like too.
Upon close inspection, those aren't tail pipes at all, they are part of the rear facia with the tips exiting from within them. I'm not sure how I feel about that but at least those things aren't the tips.
Captain Jeff Z28 01-09-2006, 03:18 PM Darth,
I won't flame you. Your view of retro styling has been clear from the start. The fact that you're trying speaks volumes.
The rear of the car, looked at from the front presents a Cadillac XLR look. IMO, which I am pretty sure you are a fan of? Maybe this will help you.

I agree that there is some Art & Science flavoring to it... I like the sharp creases here and there, especially on the sides of the car... an improvment from the somewhat boring plainness of the 4th Gen sides...
The rear end came out better than I though it would form the clay model shots...
Aaron91RS 01-09-2006, 03:26 PM If anyone and I mean anyone complains about the chiseled rear end, we will end up with yet another 350z rear end. So shut up, the ass end looks pretty good.
The front end just doesn't work for me though. Not sure if a billet grill will totally fix it or not.
texcamaro 01-09-2006, 03:34 PM I love the car overall, but the big "smiley" grille is bugging me. I was hoping for more of the 69 flat body / angled grille instead of angling the whole thing. And I own a angled front 79 Camaro. I also am trying to love the rear end but it is just so chopped off looking. At least there is one to discuss, HALLELUJAH!!!! - Chevy, please make it!!!
Z28Marcus 01-09-2006, 03:47 PM Yep - the egg-crate grill is also what i don't like... I'd rather see something resembling the horizantal billet grills available for the 4th gen - perhaps flat but maybe comming to a crease that matches the shape ofthe rest of the front end.
As for thje a$$ end - it is weak, compared to eveything else on the exterior which I like (apart form the egg crate grill). Fix the taillghts and the fart can exhuasts at least.
I kind of like the pic of the Camaro concept with the bar in the grill.
I bet this car will have tons of aftermarket grills
MadKilla 01-09-2006, 04:42 PM grill is fixed easy, I think it needs one piece 69 style tail lights
graham 01-09-2006, 04:44 PM Historically the front end is always something GM over does on their concepts. Look at some of those Firebird concepts and how the front ends were exaggerated and the doors were about as they ended up.
falchulk 01-09-2006, 05:11 PM I hate that electric razor analogy. its thrown around in every mag, on every internet site, about cars that look nothing like freaking razors. Why do people think this is a witty comment?
gmanss 01-09-2006, 05:11 PM Good starting point. Back is nice, still thinking about it. Front is nice also.Maybe to pointy. ill have to see it in person. sides are o.k.. Wheels are perfect. Ineterior has got to look excotic. not cheap futuristic cheap plastic.
saroyan689 01-09-2006, 05:33 PM This is for everyone to keep in mind- Until you see it in person- you just dont really know!!
I did not have great love for the 4th gen the first time I saw it in a tv ad. But, it grew on me and I came to love it and own one.
For the most part, I like the concept but I expect some changes before production. Mostly though, until I can lay butt flesh to a production car- I wont really know.
As for the concept- those tail lights arent doing it for me!! But who knows, maybe they are only really meant to be seen by Mustang drivers from two or three car lenghts back!!:p
JBird33 01-09-2006, 05:48 PM I am very happy that GM has the balls to go forward and make this car; but for some reason I can't get myself to like it when I see it...for some reason it just doesn't say "Camaro' to me.
I like the rear, except the tail lights - maybe 1 piece like someone has said. The wheels need to be smaller....and the front end isn't too bad; just maybe a little "fatter" if you know what I mean.
The interior looks even more weird. The 3-spoke wheel is cool, but the center is too far dented in for me...I kinda like those guages, though most people seem like they don't. I'm also not too sure about having all that wood on the inside; seems so "luxury."
Then again, as it has been said, can't judge for sure until I have seen it in person.

I love the rear. I think I'd like it even more if the tail lights were circular like corvettes' or 70's camaros'
SSbaby 01-09-2006, 06:07 PM The only thing I don't like about the concept is the interior's instrumentation and dash console. I don't like the divider between the dials in the instrumentation cluster. Irrespective of its links to the past, to me it appears to be an ergonomic flaw. That's what dials are for... to separate each instrument guage. The dash console just lacks imagination.
Maybe my expectations are aligned somewhat to the G35 as far as the interior design is concerned, but somehow I was expecting something more appealing.
KevinZ44 01-09-2006, 06:44 PM I think the rear looks fantastic. Almost a little corvette-ish! Woo-hoo! If the stainless steel grille and bowtie are removed, I think this car would be even more impressive than it already is.
I hate that red color, however.
Johnny Ray 01-09-2006, 06:45 PM You must have a good looking shaver.
Brangeta 01-09-2006, 06:52 PM The front end is really giving me the same "Electric Razor" vibe that has been brought up about the new styling direction of Lincoln......

The car looks like it started out with a front end that looked like this:
\___/
which would have looked cool, but they must have run the concept into a wall when the fiberglass was still wet because it looks like this now:
|____|
Rather sad in my honest opinion... I have no interest in buying a brick in the wind.

Because I really do think it looks somewhat like my Braun Syncho electric razor?

You need to look at the head of the shaver as if it were the front clip. ;)
(BTW... I'm not saying it literally looks exactly like it... just saying it the feel I get when I look at it.).......... boy that sounds exactly like what some people say when they say it's not retro...
HAZ-Matt 01-09-2006, 09:36 PM The concept is just a little too something for me. I can't exactly put my finger on it. Not too retro exactly. Maybe just a little too extreme. Guess I am getting too old (24). :)

Oh, I thought you were going to say it looks like something from Mad Max/Road Warrior (hahaha, sorry Scott you knew this kind of thing was coming, right?).
