I would like the 500ish hp model if available, but it will depend on price. I voted for the 400hp model as that is more likely by my way of thinking. I'm kinda expecting the 400ish hp model to realistically be the top model for at least the first couple years anyway...

I want a 5.3L

LS7 all the way, unless it is priced at some ungodly high number. If it were to stay aound mid 40's I'm in. I was thinking about picking up a 6.0L for 30K and dropping either a 427 into it or adding a turbo. So if GM offers a stock LS7 or LS9 that would easily make up my mind on which way to go. Of course I would never pay the outrageous dealer mark-ups out of principal, so I'll probably end up dropping an LS7 in myself, modded to my own needs.

I voted 400 hp. 500 if i could afford it. just bught a house. 500 probably equals 50000 dollars

Remember I said "regardless of price". If you figure the LS2 version is priced in at the same price as the Mustang GT, the LS7 version should list for no more than another $10-15K above that... which should be well below the GT-500.

I can only vote once, but I voted Base V6 because I felt bad that no one else voted for it. ;) In all honesty, my dream would be to own a v6 daily driver AND a v8 version.

I'm hoping that by the time the car is ready for production, we will see it with the 6.2 from the Escalade, and around 420 hp or so. I don't think I'm too far off with the thought, hopefully. The business case for the LS7 just doesn't make sense, IMHO.

Well all know you can't make the vette people mad and use their precious high end engine in the lowly camaro or give it as much HP.
Vette got the LT5-camaro didnt
Vette got LT4-camaro got a few only to clear stock and then with less HP
Vette got LS6-didn't want to piss off even other LT5 owners so it got a bit less HP
Vette got LS7-GTO only then was allowed 400HP. Even then it was the LS2 not LS6 so the vette people still had a shred of bragging rights

There is no way the Camaro will get an LS7. Even if it gets the HP it will probably be some other LS number. What numbers are left lol. Also by that time the vette will have gotten a boost in HP for it's top engine if not another engine.

that is true above but in the old day of 69 was just as fast as the Vette. if they put some kind of real motor in the car like the LS7 i will have the first one (thanks Dad).

The Vette will hopefully get the 6.2 for '08, so I think a slightly detuned version for the Camaro isn't out of the realm of possibility, somewhere around 420hp or so. Hopefully.

Regardless of price?!?! Is this some kind of trick question??? Who here wouldn't pick LS7 regardless of price. Put some real world prices up there though, and I may go with a midlevel V8.

It is mute because I will bet that the Camaro get's neither the LS2 nor LS7 (but that admittedly depends on when they get it out).

Oopps! In that case 500. I currently own a V6 auto and a V8 manual Camaros. My manual V8 has better gas mileage than my V6. No need for a V6. Thats me.

me too. But seeing as 6 speeds are now a normal part of life, its very doubtful we'd see a 5 speed anymore.
