PacerX 01-09-2006, 01:49 PM From the fine words of the GM Blog and Mr. Lutz hisself:
"And for those of you who might say, “Well, the Challenger has 35 hp more,” I would just reply that we have a certified 1OO more on tap from the ZO6 engine, should the need arise."
Quote THE MIGHTY PACERX:
"400hp IS NOT the upper horsepower limit for the new Camaro."
Told ya.
Nyah, nyah, nyah.

MarcR94v6 01-09-2006, 01:57 PM Watch....The SS will be set at a certain HP rating, but when put on a dyno, it's RWHP will magically be more to the crank HP rating:D :D :D :D

Supposedly under the new SAE method that shouldnt happen anymore.

i think you meant Z/28 ;) :D :p
MadKilla 01-09-2006, 02:01 PM Its a shame the 4th gen died before the new SAE ratings, I would love to see where they put the LS1 horsepower.
"It appears under the new SAE standards, the power of the Z28 has gone from 310 to 360 HP. We must have made a math mistake originally"
Gold_Rush 01-09-2006, 02:02 PM So lemme see if i get this...Lutz is basically saying that the Ls7 is there for use if the need arises?? That Chevy will consider using the Ls7 in the camaro??
Nice. With the GT500 having 475hp, i think the camaro would most definitly need the Ls7. Bob better keep true to his promise.
pHEnomIC 01-09-2006, 02:05 PM Not to mention the challenger is probably gonna be over 2 tons...
DrewSG 01-09-2006, 02:05 PM I wonder if an LS7 could be used for a Camaro... cheaply. I mean.. We don't need dry sump oil system, forged titanium rods, cnc ported heads..
I wonder if there could be a business case for it?
graham 01-09-2006, 02:06 PM Maybe for a real low run (hard to get) 2nd year ringer like a ZL1 or something of that nature. Or a REAL Z/28.

Shut your mouth! :D
Its only a $10-15K upgrade, that I for one am willing to pay. ;)
falchulk 01-09-2006, 02:09 PM They are starting to put what they learned from the development of the ls7 to use in the truck engines. The new heads are based on the ls7 data. No reason that they could not use the technology without the exotic parts and get 450 hp. Might be hard to get higher then that.
