What is the difference between AN and NPT fittings?
I need to know what type of fittings to buy and where I should get them from. I need a 90 degree fitting for the N2O inlet of the main line from the bottle that will enter the bottom of the NX "iceman" solenoid which fitting would i need? I also need a 45 degree fitting comming out of the bottle before the main line, what fitting would i use there?

The AN style have a radius edge on them where as the NPT are straight cut. AN style will self seal, you don't need to use Teflon paste on them. NPT style fittings will need Teflon paste on them. Take a look at this link:

The top of the fitting is AN, the bottom is NPT. Going into your solenoid will be NPT. Gonnecting to a hose will be AN.
Hope that helps a little.

Okay i think i got it, anything that screws into the selinoid is NPT and the rounded end that attaches to the stainless lines is the AN side.
Thanks Matt.

one small thing to remember. Make sure when you buy AN fittings its a 37 degree flare. It seems everyone has only 37 degree flares now and that should be the standard. But you will still see 45 degree stuff in Jegs and Summit and a few other places.
The degrees is the angle of the taper on the tip of the fitting on a male fitting or the innder angle on female fittings.
