Parking brake lever problem

Hi everybody,

OK so here goes. I'm doing a 6 speed swap in my Z28 and had to pull the center console out this weekend. The only way to pull the console is to pull up HARD on the e-brake lever. It got stuck in the up position. I got it to release but the button and cable at the end not is not functional. In fact, the button and cable now slide in and out of the end of the handle. How do I get it to function again?

Sounds like you broke it! This is a pretty simple system.
Trace the cable from the brakes forward and see if the problem is back there. If not it's probably going to be in the handle. Chevy has the parts.
