Sorry guys, searched forever and couldn't find an answer for this question.
I lost my spare set of keys for the car. Just wanted to know if going to the dealership was the only option for ordering a new ignition key with the "pass" system...I wouldn't be able to program this key on my own, right?
thanks for the help,
Jason

The key isn't "programmed", it's "chipped" ;). Okay, I know you know that! But what that chip is, is just a resistor with a specific resistance. Your car's computer looks for that exact resistance everytime a key goes in the ignition. If it doesn't see the right amount (too high, too low) the car won't start.
If you still have at least 1 key for the car, you CAN by-pass the system. What you do is measure the resistance of the chip you've got, then buy little resistors at Radio Shack or wherever, and wire them into the ignition system and by-pass the PassKey system altogether. But I don't know if you'd want to eliminate that system or not? If not, then you're off to the dealer for a new key;).

Make sure you bring an owners card and id, they probably wont give you a key w/o them.
