Does exhaust HAVE to cross?

I figured I'd post this in the advanced tech so I'll get the most info on this topic. I'm considering running 2 ft of exhaust off each header and then a bullet and dump. My ? is does the exhaust have to cross or will the car run fine this way? Also how long does it have to be to not cause the car to miss as it's throwing a code for that with the open headers right now.

Do you need a cross-over pipe? No, nothing says you have to use one. The engine would be a little quieter with a cross-over and it may make a few more hp/tq but it'll run fine without one. As long as you have ~1 foot of pipe behind the O2 sensor you shouldn't have a problem there.

What code is the PCM showing you, P0300??

Yes it's throwing P0300 so I'm assuming it's due to the open headers. Will I lose a lot of torque this way? I'd have thought the hp might be a lil up but the tq would be down. this is more a temporary (cheap) fix for now till I get an x pipe down the road. just want to make sure it'll work
