I have a 1994 LT1 rear disc brakes (stock). I just install my strange 12bolt that was shorten to save weight and give a better dish on my bogart rims. They shorten the rear about 5 or so inches. The problem is that everything is shortened and when I try and mount the rear calipers the vibration damper and parking break cables are keeping it from mounting on the back plates. The vibration damper is hitting and the cailper is hitting the mount on the drivers side, where the spring and panhard rod are mounted. And on the passenger side again the vibration damper is hitting the shock mount on the other side. My question is, would it be okay to romove the rubber damper and parking break cables (which I dont really use, it is mostly a race car now). Taking the damper off would I see any problems...

You can cut down the vibration damper for clearance.

I have the vibration dampers fully removed. They simply unscrew. Haven't noticed any unusual affects.
Please do not post questions about the rear axle assembly or brakes on "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech". There is a forum for "Suspension, Chassis & Brakes". Moving post there.

We narrowed the shop car 6". Take the weights off. Save the E brake bracket 'cause your cables will go back on. We did have to move the panard rod mount a little to the inside. The shock mounts stayed where they were at,so did the LCA mounts.
It has a 9" though.

I guess I am going to trim the panhard rod mount alittle to make clearance for the piston on the drivers side rear caliper. I am just worried about weaking it....
