I wanting to know if anybody has ever made clear clear taillights for my 96. I have looked all over and seen some for almost every type of car but the camaro, which would be the best for a real "muscle" car, only has euro tails for it. What I'm excatly looking for is black housing with clear caps the one i have to put red bulbs in.

did you just say that clear tails are the best lights for a real muscle car?... I wish you listed a location on your profile so I could come over and slap you.

what he meant was what would look best clear wise for a muscle car, since all he can find is euros(altezzas)

For the record I am NOT a fan. BUT I am here to help and be helped by fellow F-Body lovers, not dictate style so I found the closest things you will find for you.

First, to set the record straight, these are my tail lights:

Here's a few options for you (from best to worst IMO):

The last three are the same, just different manufacturers and prices. Is this what you were looking for?

Funny part is that aside from the first one, all of those are identical, just used different lighting and angles to make them look different. I have the first one, myself. Mine are the carbon fiber TYC euros. They looked good, but the lense looks cheap when the sun hits it. I then used nightshades on mine so I get the best of both worlds: smoked during the normal time, and then aftermarket when the bulbs are lit. :)

Thanks for the info, but I'm kind of trying to stay away from Euros. I like the look but my thinking is the Camaro is a true muscle car, even this generation so I'm really looking for old school style with plain ones that I have to put the red bulbs in, kind of like these ones on ebay for the s10.

My Z28 is white with the black top and I have already bought JDM black turning signals for the front, so I'm trying to stick with the white and black theme. And as for the late response I was on vacation for the New Year with my family, so I had no way of communication except for a freakin' Nextel cell phone.

Gotcha, never seen any that fit that description.

You may have to buy a set that looks as close as possible and modify it to look like you want.

Thats what I thought. I figure in the long run I could find a set of black euros, and take time to pull it apart and pull the red lenses out, but I probably will stick with my covers for now.

Out of pure curiosity, I am still missing the connection with muscle cars to the clear tail lights.

Is there a specific old muscle car with similar lights you are referring to?

Who cares. If they had some real clears I'd buy'em.

I've seen clear tails and smoked tails on mustangs and they look good, escpecially on the 89 gts. So I thought I could find some for my Camaro, to show them what they really look good on, but I am going to customize my own to my specs. thanks anyway.

With the 4th gen Firebirds you can actually REMOVE the red plastic inside the taillights and make them clear taillights :) You'd think I'd know, but I'm not sure if you can do this with the Camaro taillights or not? Has anybody tried?

Here are some pics of this done on a Trans Am...

Nope. The Camaro tail lights are one solid lens.

Thanks :) I wasn't sure and I remember them being a smooth piece of plastic on the outside so wasn't sure if it was a solid piece of clear plastic on the outside or what. Oh well :)

Found out the hard way when I wanted to do it to my 94Z back in the day before Altezzas were even thought of ;)
