CAn anyone tell me how to remove the stereo trim panel for my 96 Convertible. I believe it is just pressed in and needs to be pulled off, i can't find any screws or anything like that. Plus does the antenna lead have to be adapted to install a Kenwood stereo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well for a Firebird you just have to pry it off. There are 4 pins that go into the dash that hold it in.

GM uses a mini Motorola plug on their antenna cable that needs an adapter (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=265-585) to work with after-market HU's

you need to remove your glove box, the screws are on the bottom of it. You also need to remove the panel that is above your legs when you're driving the car, few screws on the bottom as well as half way up. Once those are removed, you will see the screws that hold the radio surround on, should be 3 on each side.

DONT JUST PULL IT OFF, IT WILL BREAK

OK, I think we need to clear things up a litte bit here. My procedure is for a '99 Trans Am. You just pop off the trim panel and then remove three 7mm screws to get the radio out.

the only cars that don't just "pop off," are the 4th gen camaros.... because the thirdgens both just pop off.... you can take your radio out in about 10 seconds....
