Maybe someone who has done this can expand on this??? MyShibbyZ28 12-12-2005, 11:06 PM I've heard that you can cut a hole in your rear floor board to give easier access. I think it's dangerous since you can cut through to a line or the tank if you don't do something right. FastZinTennessee 12-12-2005, 11:07 PM I dropped the rear end and did it in my garage. It was a massive pain in the ass. You will need to get the car up high in the air and let the rear drop as close to straight down as possible. You'll also want to have a few extra hands to help. Otherwise you can cut a rectangle out of the floor board of your car to get access to the pump. I prefer not to cut up my car so I did it the othe way. matLT1 12-12-2005, 11:12 PM You cut a hole in the metal that is behind the backrest of the back seat. Nobody will even know it's there. Here is a good write up on the trap door method. http://www.taekwondoplus.org/z28/fuelpump.html Mike Comp T/A #57 12-13-2005, 03:19 AM I did the trap door method. You can change out a pump in 30 minutes. FirstYrLS1Z 12-13-2005, 11:28 AM When my OEM pump started to fail and surge,I did a search on options of fuel pump replacement.Upon finding the 'door' method,I didn't think twice about it and cut the opening.Replaced the pump with a Granatelli 255 lph unit from Summit. When the replacement pump started to increase in 'noise',I replaced it.Took less than 15 minutes to replace it with the tools that I have/carry in my Z.The pump I took out was operating OK,just got a little noisy. That pump is now part of the tools in the Z and if the current pump fails,I know I can replace,on the road if necesary,it in a very short amount of time Critter 12-13-2005, 02:23 PM cut it. i didn't and it took me 3 hours with a lift | ||
