LED Interior Questions

Like some of the other Camaro guys, I'm looking into replacing my dim interior lights. I plan on getting bright white lights for almost everything in the interior (hvac, cluster, door handles, can I do it on the fog/sgs switches?); everything but the radio (I'm getting a new one), mirror, and dome lights.

A lot of people recommend superbrightleds.com, but which leds should I go with? I know nothing about them.

Also, are the red "danger" areas in the cluster just a red film glued to the cluster? Is it possible to take a blue marker to some plastic wrap and stick it on there for blue "danger" areas instead of red?

Re: LED Interior Questions

If you need lights for your cluster you need #194 bulbs. approx. about 7 of them. You will need to buy bulb sockets for them and you can get them at autozone for about $2 a piece i think. For your door panels, AC panel you will need #74 bulbs. I think you will need about 3 for the AC panel and 2 for the door panels.

Re: LED Interior Questions

I have no idea what you mean by the red danger zones but i know people with TA clusters have red tint on them and they sand the tint off with very fine sand paper. Also just so you know the LED bulbs only work one way so if you put them in your cluster and they don't work pull them out and rotate them 180 degrees.

Re: LED Interior Questions

I think you caught the essence of the question. By "danger zones," I mean the areas you shouldn't enter. ie. Redline, battery voltage must remain so high but also so low, engine can't get over a certain temp, etc.

Last question.. Is there any way to change the color of the odometer/trip's light? Instead of red, maybe blue? Is that just a bulb or two?

Re: LED Interior Questions

i assume you have 97+ with a digital odometer. If so its not so easily done, there is a guy that has a how to guide and might even do it for a fee on LS1tech.com

Re: LED Interior Questions

haha I tried taking out my foglight switch and redoing it. Well, I definitely got the one part BLUE with the rubber cover and blue marker, but the other one is now orange. Any way to get rid of the orange film that's (seems like) permanently in there?

Re: LED Interior Questions

I've always wondered about sanding the red tint off the gauges! Someone said there was a sight that sold clear gauges for 97+ Birds.....NOS2006 if you are successful at trying this let me know!

No i'm sorry i can't tell. I've personally always got my stuff from www.superbrightLEDs.com. Thats where i got all my interior LED lights even the ones for my mirror and i'm running one of their LED panels for my rear cargo light and one for my tag light. They have great stuff it just sucks that they charge you $5 shipping even if you only buy one thing so make your order and buy everything at once.
