Capn Pete 12-09-2005, 08:33 PM So the Camaro is gonna need some cool intro music when it rolls out on stage in Detroit, right? So I had a thought. Some of you may not like it, but I think it would be quite fitting and appropriate ;) ...
"Without Me" by Eminem :thumb:
Just think of how it starts off ...
"Guess who's back ... back again ... guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, nah nah nah ..."
... I think it'll be awesome!! :thumb: I'm not even joking . If you don't know the song, I found a sample clip on this page (http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/music/artist/listenwatch/0,,715132,00.html#artist_name) (scroll down to "Eminem - song clips" and click on the one for "Without Me"). Maybe Eminem isn't everyone's favorite artist, but it may draw attention from a younger crowd as well?? :)

how bout T.N.T???? :D
for those not in the know, here's the lyrics:
See me ride out of the sunset
On your color TV screen
Out for all that I can get
If you know what I mean
Women to the left of me
And women to the right
Ain't got no gun
Ain't got no knife
Don't you start no fight
'Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. and I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a power load
T.N.T. watch me explode!!!
I'm dirty, mean and mighty unclean
I'm a wanted man
Public enemy number one
Understand?
So lock up your daughter
Lock up your wife
Lock up your back door
And run for your life
The man is back in town
So don't you mess me around
'Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. but I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a power load
T.N.T. watch me explode!!!
T.N.T. oi oi oi
T.N.T. oi oi oi
T.N.T. oi oi oi
T.N.T. oi oi oi
T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. But I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a power load
T.N.T. Just watch me explode!!! yeah

LOL Damage INC might be a little bit too hard for the public.........
I think Enter Sandman would be killer or better yet Metallica comes out with good sounding popular song and it gets used........
I could see Enter Sandman working very well......with the begining showing silent dream like stills set to a nightmareish theme......Then the song cuts to the main riff showing it doing power slides showing it taking down opponents on the drag strip and the race track and it cue back to the street, and has the main singing part "Exit Light (shown the camaro doing a killer burnout covering the screen in smoke) Enter Night (shows the camaro's nose and lights shine through the smoke revealing the dark street but lit up well) Take My Hand (shows the driver grasping the wheel and the gear shift) We're Off To Never Never Land (shows the camaro flying by at a high rate of speed)" Then the end of the commercial cuts to the end parts of Enter Sandman with a cool tag line like for example "The New Chevrolet Camaro returing to your dreams and to the competitions nightmares" An American Revolution
Though I'd like to see Chevy come out with a Camaro commercial so exciting that it gets banned, Like the corvette commercial but have another commerical come out right after it say. "Our cars like to be outspoken (shows short clip of banned camaro commercial) Our cars like to be exciting (shows another clip) Our cars are uncensored (shows another clip) but this car is way too much for network TV (camaro in a dark room giving a sinister stare, after it fades out a message reading to find out more go to chevy.com/camaro)
But I'd like to see some traditional commericals as well doing comparisons, like comparing amazing fuel economy compared to its competitors, and have another commercial grabbing people and blindfolding them and sitting them inside the car and have them feel of the interior, ride in the car, and get the feel for the car, and then ask them before they take the blindfold off what kind of car it is......When they guess wrong show their faces when they can't believe that the new camaro has outstanding quality inside and outside.

JasonD 12-09-2005, 10:01 PM At one point not long ago, I was asked to think of a fitting potential song to be played while the car is unveiled. While this did not happen due to several reasons, I had two choices in mind...
Back in Black by AC/DC
Highway Star by Deep Purple
91Z-28 12-09-2005, 10:05 PM How about Damage Inc. by Metallica...They could have a video of it in the background showing it destroying the new Mustang and stuff, it would be great:thumb:
Damn that would be the ****. Not too many people are familiar with that song though unfortunately, so I have to agree it is "too much" for the general public.

91Z28350 12-09-2005, 10:32 PM how bout Fuel for Fire Metallica
Hey I suggested that last time this topic was posted! :D
PS-name of the Song is "Fuel"
Chevrolet bow tie on the screen with James singing "Gimme fuel, gimme fire, gimme that which I desire" then the Camaro comes out.
JoeliusZ28 12-09-2005, 10:41 PM definitely second Back in Black,Enter Sandman, Fuel, and T.N.T. here are some more possibilities ill add:
Rage Against the Machine - Renegades of Funk
Velvet Revolver - Big Machine
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
The Crystal Method - High Roller (techno could be good with proper visual effects)
Linkin Park - Points of Authority (perfect intro)
thats all i got

Caps94ZODG 12-09-2005, 11:13 PM okay "THE" introduction music!
Heck the introduction presentation..
The area is dark lit by a faint light...a represenative from GM comes up to a podium and the light gets brighter and talks about Chevy's Muscle Car History the Chevelle, the nova, Impala and so on. He talks about how rich and diverse this history is. He talks about the engines and HP and the legends.. How this lineage is now making a comback. The days when pulling up to a stoplight with a Chevy that had an SS badge meanst something. Or for a certain few a Z badge. With more on that I give you Scott S. to say a few words.
Scott gets to the podium and talked about the journey he and his fellow members have taken to come to this point, the hardships the trials and the dedication from them and the people asked to be here in the crowd. This moment is what he has been waiting for..as he says this ...a lone spotlight is lit on a man holding a guitar..all of a sudden you hear the cry of a chunk waa waa rif comming from it.. As you hear the guitar in the background laying down the noticible chords..Scott speakes...
"ladies and gentleman, This car is a statement! This car is an icon! This car is part of Chevrolet! This car is part of America! It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the 2009 Camaro!!"
as Scott says the word Camaro the man playing guitar breaks out into FULL rockin mode and the curtains fall to the sides and you see the band playing live on an elevated stage. Velvet Revolver doing Jimi Hendrix's VOODOO CHILD! As Scott Weiland starts singing the first verse
" Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand"
from under the elevated stage under the drum kit the new car come screaming out with all the pyro and smoke worthy of a rock show.
as the car rolls to the front we see the band rocking out to Voodoo Child in the background...
"Yeah
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand
Yeah
’cause I’m a voodoo child
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child baby
I want to say one more last thing
I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
I’ll give it right back to ya one of these days
Hahaha
I said I didn’t mean to take up all your sweet time
I’ll give it right back one of these days
Oh yeah
If I don’t meet you no more in this world then uh
I’ll meet ya on the next one
And don’t be late
Don’t be late
’cause I’m a voodoo child voodoo child
Lord knows I’m a voodoo child
Hey hey hey
I’m a voodoo child baby
I don’t take no for an answer
Question no
Yeah"
as Velvet Revolver plays the last note.the car rolls up to its final spot..the band falls silent and then you hear the car ROAR with a throaty exhaust note to announce its presence as it takes its place on center stage..and the lights come up so you can fully see the new Camaro in all its glory.
Slash, Velvet Revolver, Camaro..need we say more?? ;)
That is what I would do if I was introducing this car.
turbo96z28 12-09-2005, 11:23 PM very cool intro idea
WOW. that actually would be a really cool intro.
oooooohhhhhhhh, if Velvet Revolver can't play, how 'bout Black Label Society???????
Caps94ZODG 12-09-2005, 11:29 PM oooooohhhhhhhh, if Velvet Revolver can't play, how 'bout Black Label Society???????

Caps94ZODG 12-09-2005, 11:49 PM can't you just hear Zakk ripping through that song...........:metal:
actually I have..he played it live at a show..I was like YEAAA!!
I think Slash would play it almost like Jimi but more sleazy like he always does..I have heard Gn R do it a long time ago..
Zakk he plays it like hes doing some sweet normal soft chords..the rips into it like a madman!! awsome stuff..
If they used Voodoo child, Jimi Hendrix would be choice #1, then SRV.
But this is for a live rock band and though the original and Stevies version are tops...they are not able to make the show that night..:(
91Z28350 12-10-2005, 12:11 AM Yeah, I could see Zack and BLS pulling that off!
jpolz 12-10-2005, 12:21 AM They could do a pretty sick intro with the first 45 seconds of "Demanufacture" by Fear Factory. :metal:
Other songs that would work good in a commercial...
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
Jesus Built My Hotrod - Ministry
We Die Young - Alice In Chains
Supergrobo82 12-10-2005, 12:25 AM Some Ideas
Back in Black-AC/DC
Voodoo Child- SRV then Jimi
Supersonic-Oasis
Bitchin Camaro-Dead Milkmen
The Seeker-The Who
F**ckin in the Bushes-Oasis
Plus a few songs by Queens of the Stone age, their frontman Josh Holmne has a 69 I believe and was in the chevy calender a few years ago

)2overt SS 12-10-2005, 10:59 AM I always thought that a perfect song for a tv ad, or a suppose the unveiling, would be:
Breaking the Habit - by Linking Park
I mean c'mon, just the title of the song, itself, does it justice :p
GM - I take cash or check....
:p

PERFECT. Love that song.
NJSPEEDER24 12-10-2005, 11:34 AM PERFECT. Love that song.
Exactly. :)

Ok, fine, I'll accept Sweet Emotion;). I agree that it's a song that can be appreciated by all ages, not just "hippies" or "youngens" :D.
JoeliusZ28 12-10-2005, 12:47 PM Sweet Emotion would definitely work if done right.
detltu 12-10-2005, 04:24 PM as I suggested for the 5th gen commercial back in June of 2004 I think this would work just as well on the screen behind the covered 5th gen.
Starts with empty highway
Chevy muscle cars of all years and styles come rushing by at like 100mph (corvettes and camaros from every generation as well as chevelles and impalas and stuff and some of the new SS models)
Cut away to 5th gen under a car cover
AudioSlave Track 6 plays where they say (slow part of the song) "time is wasting".
At this time the cover comes off very fast at first and then very slow motion
As Audioslave jams " Set it off" the 5th Gen burns out and joins the other Chevy muscle cars.
Its back
An American Revolution.
Caps94ZODG 12-10-2005, 04:29 PM Have you guys ever seen or even been to a major car unveiling? It is a highly publicized event, often the CEO of the company is present (or even participating) along with dozens of people high up on the chain.
Jason did you read my "into" and scene.I know what your saying but..Think about it..you can have all these people there, they know what Camaro means. Sure I love heavy fast metal like the rest, but some of its too heavy..Voodoo child would work with a live band..this is a big deal, break the mold, make a new intro "style" and really let people know about Camaro..have a band playing there. Someone like BLS or Velevet Revolver would make the music mags, tabloids and auto mags. TV would show it. These two bands are right now would be a great promotional tool to introduce Camaro again.
and not just a car under a cover with people all dressed up..it cannot be a boring thing its gotta spark and sizzle and a classic but not old rock song would work...something like Voodoo Child..listen to it while you think about it..
Camaro needs to be a rock star..and treated like one.
I love sweet emotion but every time I listen to it while driving..I slow down and cruise...its gotta be a song thats like "BAM" out of the gate..and the wah wah beggining has the perfect background for Scott S. to present it.
and sorry Eminem? I love his stuff but I just dont see it, especially that song. For an intro? guess whos back...back again...guess who back guess who back...guess who back......just dosnt fit..call me what you will mullet or whatever but this car was founded on ROCK n ROLL...it deserves a song fit for a classic car like the Camaro..
number77 12-10-2005, 04:32 PM Have you guys ever seen or even been to a major car unveiling? It is a highly publicized event, often the CEO of the company is present (or even participating) along with dozens of people high up on the chain.
So we should play some beach boys?
I can deal with that. :metal:
Edit: But it seems that we've already agreed on sweet emotion (http://www.80srockstars.net/rams/aerosmith_sweetemotion.ram).

Come on guys, this is going to be a high class event with well dressed old men taking care of it. Not some rock band with pyro and laser shows. Half of this stuff, while it would be cool, is a little rediculous for this type of an event.
Ron78Z&01SS 12-10-2005, 06:04 PM I may be showing my age, but I think either Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" or Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle" would be EXTREMELY APPROPRIATE ! :metal:
Seeing it roll out of smoke into the lights with either of those playing would probably make the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!!

My points exactly, but hey...to some of us, this will be the car that dreams are made of, right? Dream it your way, but don't be surprised when it is something that is watered down by your standards. :D
jkipp84 12-10-2005, 06:48 PM What about snagging one of the all time (if not the) most popular driving songs - Radar Love?

Dude, do you know what that song really means????? read the lyrics...its actually a put down to the U.S.
And Jason why water it down?? Think about it..and not as an enthusiast but as a presentation...were not going to a HS drama club show..why just be a covered car and a spotlight?? or something just driving through a curtain?? Millions of dollars went into making this a reality why not show it off?? All the bells and whistles?? Make this presentation the standard that people will talk about..the "didd you see that" presentation..the one that people will now try and outdo next year..This car has alot riding on it and should be treated as such...how far fetched is it to get a rock band to play for GM? not like they cant pull a few strings..to get some strings played..Think about it the Patriots on their opening day got Ozzy to play the intro to them comming on the feild..OZZY...and when I saw ozzy pop up from under the helmet at the razor I was like HOLY CRAP..this is awsome...now the patriots are not doing as well as they were a yr ago, but I can tell you people will remember Ozzy doing crazy train live as the pats took the feild...
same thing..the media will remember when Camaro takes the stage..
bells and whistles..
I burn rice too 12-10-2005, 09:36 PM Voodoo Child was already taken by Nissan in the Xterra commercials. Sweet emotions would work though.
Caps94ZODG 12-10-2005, 09:46 PM so..not like anyone really remembers it..lol
actually I remember when Lincoln got a song I was like thats Camaros song also another Hendrix tune..
But I will do it one better to really hype this car..they should be putting commercials out announcing the unveiling..
basically just have the wah wah going and a voice over saying.. On Jan. 10 visit your local Chevy dealer for a similcast unveiling of a legend..reborn.
make it an event that brings people to the chevy showroom..
Yea its just a prototype but...it has 2 yrs of mustang sales to curb..why not make people aware of it..its to late for it now but would of been good to do..imagine hundreds of people watching this simulcast at alot of chevy dealerships across the country and for being there getting special posters or booklets of the concept..saying what GM wants to do and when it should be out.
JasonD 12-10-2005, 10:21 PM MARIYLN MANSON - THIS IS THE NEW ****!!!! would be a great song "are you mother ****ing ready for the new ****?????............ this is the new ****" just at thought
Heh...you are either joking or didn't read posts #42 and #52, calling a new car "sh*t" won't bode well. Remember, GM's entire management will be looking at everything related to this under a microscope. The entire automotive media world will be looking at this and very few of the ones who will professionally report on it aren't 20 and under males. They certainly won't be be taking note of this with a joint in one hand and a beer in the other while wearing mascara and a Motorhead T-shirt. They do not have kegs and meth at auto show unveilings. ;);) It all has to appeal to the mass majority.
We are one step away from thinking that it would be the best to get Gene Simmons to hop on stage and puke blood all over the hood. It's a shame that GG Allin and Wendy O. Williams are dead or we'd get them involved as well. (Do a search if you don't know who those people are.)
Guys, you gotta remember, this is a business presentation. The idea is to capture a wide audience, and not just you, I am sorry to say. Although it is a relatively significant presentation, it does not have the budget for multi-millon dollar music licensing like a commercial because it won't reach the same amount of people like a commercial will. When it happens, it won't even make them money. Until the car can be sold, it is an expense and you know how tight GM's funds are these days.
Just trying to put it into perspective so you don't get let down. That is what I meant by "don't be surprised when it is something that is watered down by your standards". I didn't mean it WILL be watered down for what it needs to be to appeal the way it needs to.
This is an example of what I read all the time about the car. People expect the car to have everything and then put it down when it doesn't. They first hope and then expect it to cost 17k and run 10s and get 35mpg and then when it doesn't they complain and say they will never buy it. The 5th gen forum was full of that sort of thing before the car pics even came out. The things expressed in this thread guarantees that will happen again when it comes down to the simplicity of the music played as the cover comes off.
I am not meaning to bitch or stifle the daydream, just saying that you can't expect it to be in league with a Pink Floyd concert (which would be cool, don't get me wrong...so would the Gene Simmons part).

Black in Black or Thunderstruck would be a great choice

Doug Harden 12-11-2005, 08:13 AM Don't you think with my neighbor (well, 20 miles to the west of me), John Mellencamp's new relationship with Chevrolet, that they might pick something from his song list?
R.O.C.K. in the USA comes to mind as an uptempo song....
NightWindDriftr 12-11-2005, 08:21 AM Screw the music. Just have the heritage intro that some of you have mentioned and it'll be bad-ass enough. :)

Maybe a slideshow of the previous generations? :)
EDIT: Oh, I just thought of something. I like the other song choices, but back to Sweet Emotion....Maybe showing a video clip slideshow of the previous generations during the first 35 seconds of Sweet Emotion would build it up pretty well? Listen to the song and imagine it.
Caps94ZODG 12-11-2005, 10:12 AM JasonD...hmmmmm..Gene Simmons for a spokes person...THAT WOULD WORK...lol..like the new Miller Lite commercials hes in.. j/k
"hes got 400 HP RWD IRS and a tounge thats a foot long...you can have it all.....except the foot long tounge..."
Just like everyones said alot is riding on this car..ALOT..so do something diffrent..this is an American Revolution right? so shake it up..
Its not going to happen but it should of been thought of..
I think of it this way the HEMI buzz was it created in cars, no..in trucks..and now is a catch phrase.."that thing got a HEMI?" It took that and now look at it when the 300, Magnum and now charger were introduced alot of people said IT HAS TO HAVE A HEMI when I buy it.
and advertising a car thats a prototype..hmm well Ford did with the Mustang GT concept..I got a few posters and booklet type deals on the concept lying around...why cant GM do it? I see your point JasonD, but what i am saying you put so much into this car why not present it as such..
Its like having a 5 star resturaunt meal and wrapping it up in a MickyD's wrapper..you know its good food..but everyone else will think its just fast food and not something special.
Caps94ZODG 12-11-2005, 10:15 AM Heck for music have the Ride of the Valkeries for all I care..lol..

Brandon_Lutz 12-11-2005, 12:40 PM Eh, just have this.
Pasture with some horses in it by a wooden fence, along a long, hilly countryside highway. Have some dark clouds off in the distance, like a storm is brewing. Suddenly the horses get wide eyed as you see some headlights off in the distance. You see this black car coming in the distance from the direction of the storm clouds.
You see it pop up at the top the hills then disappear. The sound of a V8 singing in its harmony as it gets closer. As the car gets closer and closer, the horses get more fidgety. Finally the car comes by. Screen shot slows down, horses are terrified and begin to run for their life the other way. Camera pans and shows the Camaro in all its fuel fed glory passing by. Then the video resumes to the car going by and you see the tail lights disappearing quickly into the distance. Thunder rumbles and etc.
Only music needed is the roar of that V8 as it scares those Musta.... err horses :D
As the video ends the cover is lifted off the car by a counter weight being dropped. That counterweight? Scotts book of course :P

Thank you for the voice of reason! Do you guys realize the demographic that this car is meant to appeal to? People putting down the dough for an SS or Z/28 are not going to be walking into their local Chevy dealers wearing Eminem or Pantera shirts... Camaro has enough bad associations with rednecks already, I think an unveiling similer to a Marilyn Manson concept is the absolute last thing that will ever happen. That being said, I think the music should be classic rock that will appeal to the 30 something males that will predominately be buying this car. Too bad Voodoo Child was already taken. Lots of good Led Zep left though.

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band all time and I'm 20, I would suggest:
-Dazed and Confused (too slow though)
-Rock and Roll (has been used)
-The Ocean (at certain points in the song)
-Whole lotta Love (at certain points in the song)
-All of my Love (Just kidding, favorite one though)
They don't work as well as Sweet Emotion I'd say.

i might be that day. just because i wear band tees, have tattoos and piercings, and listen to metal and hardcore doesn't mean i can't afford the car when it comes out. i happen to make very good money and my girlfriend makes well over $40k a year and has more ink then i do. comments like that just remind me how close minded some people can be.
30thZ286speed 12-11-2005, 01:29 PM Ummm, some of you guys really need to put down the crack pipe with the bad music you've come up with. Hiphop....NO, crazy head banging music...NO. Good ole Rock'n Roll....Yes.
Here is the introduction thats been going through my head......The room is dark, with just barely enough light, and silent. You can't see anything yet, but all of a sudden you hear a wicked V8 rumble. Then you hear the intro music to 2001 start.....As the 2001 theme music starts to build you see two HID headlight beams way back through a fog/smoke, they start to slowly move out toward center stage, with some wicked revs. Suddenly the 2001 theme hits its climax and strategicly placed strobing pyrotechnics go off with a loud bang, giving you the first look. The car rolls out to a slowly turning display, the 2001 music fades out, and a selected rock 'n roll song fades in(several have brought up Sweet Emotion). As the car gets to the turning display, spot lights from above quickly flash around the car. There are 2 passengers in the car the driver gets out and its Scott Settlemire and the passenger gets out and its Bob Lutz. Introducting the NEW CAMARO. The car stops turning and Scott steps up and breifly starts talking about the heritage of the Camaro, then Bob starts talking about the concept and what to expect in the near future. And finally invites everyone on stage for a closer look.
Man... I should be working for GM;) .
turbo96z28 12-11-2005, 01:34 PM ^^^that's a good one. would definetley make an impression.
know what i was thinking about before............remember the 4th gen commercial with the kids guessing what car it was by the sound. could they make a new version of that for the big screen before the car rolls out?

I hear ya, for what I'm imaging though it's just a a little bit too slow until Paige starts getting into it. But definitely one of the better ones for sure.
know what i was thinking about before............remember the 4th gen commercial with the kids guessing what car it was by the sound. could they make a new version of that for the big screen before the car rolls out?
Also a good idea.
Bearcat Steve 12-11-2005, 03:31 PM For Beatle fans:
1) Have a video of an illegal street race between the new Camaro and the Mustang. Of course, we know who wins the race and in the background, you hear, "Why don't We do it in the Road?" Nah.... wouldn't fly....
2) In a reference to the white album, when the car is unveiled, the only thing you hear is a voice saying, "Number Five. Number five. Number Five...." Nah... Wouldn't fly....
3) How about an instrumental version of the original "Revolution"? It's an American Revolution.
turbo96z28 12-11-2005, 03:33 PM ^^^
#2 might work, but it would get old pretty quick.
#3 is a good idea, but i think you would have to keep the lyrics or the song would lose something.
i might be that day. just because i wear band tees, have tattoos and piercings, and listen to metal and hardcore doesn't mean i can't afford the car when it comes out. i happen to make very good money and my girlfriend makes well over $40k a year and has more ink then i do. comments like that just remind me how close minded some people can be.
I absolutely hope you buy a new camaro, I fully intend to. However, you tend to not be the mainstream buyer for this car and as such, it wouldn't make much sense for GM to introduce the car by playing hardcore would it? You do want the car to sell right?
turbo96z28 12-11-2005, 04:29 PM I absolutely hope you buy a new camaro, I fully intend to. However, you tend to not be the mainstream buyer for this car and as such, it wouldn't make much sense for GM to introduce the car by playing hardcore would it? You do want the car to sell right?
i never expected once to hear Hatebreed as the car rolls on stage. i know this is a corporate event that must appeal to everyone. and of course i want the car to sell, or else we won't have our 6th gen forum :D .
maybe i just read the comment the wrong way, but it did seem to be pointing to the fact that people like myself would not be able to afford the car. and i know people like me don't make up the "mainstream", but you'd be surprised how many gearheads there are that are into the metal/hardcore scene with money to burn. it's not like the old punk days of the late 70s anymore ;) .
So the Camaro is gonna need some cool intro music when it rolls out on stage in Detroit, right? So I had a thought. Some of you may not like it, but I think it would be quite fitting and appropriate ;) ...
"Without Me" by Eminem :thumb:

"Guess who's back ... back again ... guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, guess who's back, nah nah nah ..."
... I think it'll be awesome!! :thumb: I'm not even joking . Maybe Eminem isn't everyone's favorite artist, but it may draw attention from a younger crowd as well?? :)
If it's going to be hip hop, you'd might as well go all out and pick Wu-Tang Clan's "Triumph". For bonus points, wait until after ODB's intro and then cut to instrumental. "YOU THOUGHT YALL WASN'T GON' SEE ME?! WU-TANG IS HERE FOREVER!"
Seriously though, "Are you gonna go my way" by Lenny Kravitz over racetrack/fender-cam footage.

Def Leppard's Rock of Ages:
All right
I got somethin' to say
Yeah, it's better to burn out
Yeah, than fade away
All right
Owwwwww
Gonna start a fire
C'mon!
Rise up! Gather round
Rock this place to the ground
Burn it up, let's go for broke
Watch the night go up in smoke
Rock on! Rock on!
Drive me crazier, no serenede
No fire brigade, just Pyromania (c'mon)
What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, yes I do
Long live rock'n'roll
Oh let's go, let's strike a light
We're gonna blow like dynamite
I don't care if it takes all night
Gonna set this town alight
What do you want? What do you want?
I wan't rock'n'roll, alright!
Long live rock'n'roll
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', keep a-rollin'
Rock of ages, rock of ages
Still rollin', rock'n'rollin'
We got the power, got the glory
Just say you need it and if you need it
Say yeah!
Heh heh heh heh
Now listen to me
I'm burnin', burnin', I got the fever
I know for sure, there ain't no cure
So feel it, don't fight it, go with the flow
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme one more for the road
What do you want? What do you want?
I want rock'n'roll, You betcha
Long live rock'n'roll
Repeat chorus
We're gonna burn this damn place down
Down to the ground
Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh

This is a good idea in my opinion, however not be appropiate for an entrance bec u want a real song for that. however to begin a commercial for it, that would be awesome. GM should listen to us and maybee they wouldnt be falling on their face.
flatlander757 12-12-2005, 03:46 PM Blah, I wasn't implying that you should know Spanish.. I really don't care about that... I was just stating how songs that are blatantly wrong/stupid make it okay for everyone else to do...

98supersport 12-13-2005, 02:54 PM Just a random thought, but it seems GM has done very well at pushing the "bad boy" image of the F-bod cars... but isn't that one reason they weren't selling so well? How many people have passed over the Camaro in the past because of it's reputation of being a kid's car or something the stereotypical redneck would drive?
I think they would be better advised to sell the heritage aspects such as style, sound, and GMs new emphasis on quality and durability. I doubt there are many people who are unaware a 400+ hp sports car can spin the tires- no real reason to show it in a commercial. How many people think of Camaros as cheap, poorly built, but fast cars? Fast still goes without saying; I'd recommend GM focuses on selling the car's quality, safety, and even the fuel efficiency of the modern V8s. Marketing must educate consumers and counter the misconceptions rather than reinforce the same old idea of "let's dump s'more gas in this `ere Camaro and burn the tires off in the driveway while cranking music the parents/neighbors hate." I'm sure it will be too good of a car to continue using the same old message to sell it.
-Scott
90rocz 12-13-2005, 03:23 PM They can have different commercials, for different folks...I also doubt too many people don't know, how much more efficient EFI is now. But I'm sure they will showcase the DOD /MPG side of the car too.
97 RS 12-13-2005, 04:31 PM i know it has been said before but i am gonna say it again..... ACDC Back in Black........ and even if they dont use it in a commerical or what not...... it will still be the intro music i play in my head evertime i see the car.. and especially when i buy mine :)
Caps94ZODG 12-13-2005, 05:27 PM I could see AC/DC only IF the car was built in Australia... ;)
we need an American rock band to introduce Americas new muscle car. ;)
Not some Aussi band...he he he
CamaroRob97 12-13-2005, 05:52 PM I kinda think that for a V6 commercial targeted obviously at women that "Drive My Car" by The Beatles would work out pretty good, its an easy goin song and popular
And for the Z28 platform maybe something like Motley Crue "Too Fast For Love" or "Wild Side"...just a thought
billy-94z28 12-15-2005, 02:00 PM Well, I am a country boy and older than some of you guys and girls.
I think the Allman brothers "Midnight Rider" would be good intro music and good background for a commercial.
I also think George Thoroughgood's "Bad to the Bone" would work for the intro music.
Abidar 12-15-2005, 03:33 PM Of course, as much as I would like to see Darth Vader step out of the concept, with the words, "A car so bad, even Darth Vader would drive it" across the screen, I think that it needs to be simple.
Example: I know this thread is for intro music but here goes.
Room is pitch black. You hear the rumble of a V8 through duals (seen the pics?) Tiny rev, maybe to 2000-2500 rpms. Little more rumble, then a full on rev, 6000 to redline-ish. little more rumble, lights come on, car does a burnout right there on stage, then pulls into the rotating circle. "Introducing your all new 200* Camaro." blank screen. then "Mustang who?"

MotorCityNova572 12-15-2005, 09:39 PM How about Damage Inc. by Metallica...They could have a video of it in the background showing it destroying the new Mustang and stuff, it would be great:thumb:
or Fule would be a KICK ass song...have you seen the video to that...its all about racing...
I agree about AC/DC Back in Black but I just have to go with Deep Purple - Highway Star
Nobody gonna take my car
I'm gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
It's gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh it's a killing machine
It's got everything
Like a driving power, big fat tires
and everything
I love it and I need it
I bleed it yeah it's a wild hurricane
Alright hold tight
I'm a highway star
Nobody gonna take my girl
I'm gonna keep her to the end
Nobody gonna have my girl
She stays close on every bend
Oooh she's a killing machine
She's got everything
Like a moving mouth body control
and everything
I love her I need her
I seed her
Yeah She turns me on
Alright hold on tight
I'm a highway star
Nobody gonna take my head
I got speed inside my brain
Nobody gonna steal my head
Now that I'm on the road again
Oooh I'm in heaven again I've got everything
Like a moving ground an open road
and everything
I love it and I need it
I seed it
Eight cylinders all mine
Alright hold on tight
I'm a highway star
Nobody gonna take my car
I'm gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
It's gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh it's a killing machine
It's got everything
Like a driving power big
fat tyres and everything
I love it and I need it
I bleed it
Yeah it's a wild hurricane
Alright hold on tight
I'm a highway star
I'm a highway star
I'm a highway star
This just screams cool! and it lends itself well to the older generation, the gen Xers and the newest generation's... Plus I can just see the cool commercials they could do with that song...
SharpShooter_SS 12-16-2005, 09:20 AM I dunno, some really good ideas here, but if I had my choice and I don't know if it came up or not, but...... Seek and Destroy by Metallica.....
alright....
scanning the scene in the city tonight
We are looking for you to start up a fight
There is an evil feeling in our brains
But it is nothing new you know it drives us insane
Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Running,
On our way
Hiding,
You will pay
Dying,
One thousand deaths
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
Searching,
Seek and Destroy
.... y'all get the idea. The perfect predatory song for the perfect street predator... Camaro.
Capn Pete 12-16-2005, 09:41 AM ^ ^ ^ I just don't see how that would appeal to a "broad" audience? It still screams "I love long hair and tatoos, and where's a good place to stash a 6-pack in the car where I can reach it?:metal:"
JakeRobb 12-16-2005, 09:50 AM Bob Segur - Old Kind of Rock and Roll
Since it's retro, and since people already associate Bob with Chevy (from the truck commercials).

everybody loves metallica.:D:metal: :metal:
Big Als Z 12-18-2005, 12:53 AM Dunno if anyone said this one, but
Lynard Skynard- Black Betty.
Thought about it after hearing the Dukes of Hazard movie use it. I figured it would go great with a fast action commercial as the car slides around the track.
I also like the one Spiderbait did which is a bit more modern.
and haha...it would be sweet. Duel of the Fates to play. Would make for a good song for Top Gear to play if they do a review of teh Mustang GT, Camaro SS and Challenger RT.
JakeRobb 12-19-2005, 09:30 AM First of all, it's Lynyrd Skynyrd (replace ALL vowels with Y and you're good), and second of all, they didn't do Black Betty. The original is by Ram Jam, and I like the Spiderbait remake too.
Ken S 01-13-2006, 05:26 PM Well now that the Camaro Concept was intro'd.. how did you guys like the music?
Honestly, I was too busy paying attention to the car..
but I do remember it being some really wierd sounding almost "future-scaryvibe" electronic (not exactly genre of "techno") music...
It kinda fit though!
NikiVee 01-13-2006, 08:54 PM Trance/Techno is the sound of the future. Back in Black is for honky tonk bars. :D
CamaroFan1718 01-13-2006, 09:06 PM I want to know the name of the song playing when Bob is driving it out and around.
burningsquirrels 01-13-2006, 09:14 PM ever seen the mustang commercial where they used the engine to play the national anthem? too bad ford thought it up first. that would've been badass. i had the same idea when i heard a formula 1 car play 'when the saints come marching in' several years ago...
nowandthen 01-13-2006, 10:16 PM actually, it translates to 1, 2, 3, 14. 4 in spanish is quatro. :)
Actually it's 1, 2, 3, 12. Doce is twelve. Living in California where English is a second language you pick on these things. ;)
shock6906 01-14-2006, 02:40 AM Actually it's 1, 2, 3, 12. Doce is twelve. Living in California where English is a second language you pick on these things. ;)
Actually U2 sucks and that's the last band I want associated with my new car...I hate that vertigo song...and the biggest problem with using music to advertise cars is that the commercials get played so often and for so long that I end up hating the song they use to death. I swear, after all the Led Zeppelin they played in the recent Cadillac commercials, I can no longer stand Led Zeppelin...and I used to love 'em. Man advertising ruins a lot of good music.
Somebody here has to agree with that.
JakeRobb 01-17-2006, 08:55 AM Actually it's 1, 2, 3, 12. Doce is twelve. Living in California where English is a second language you pick on these things. ;)
If you had really picked up on Spanish over there, you wouldn't need some nerd from Michigan to tell you that he's saying "catorce", not "doce", and that it is indeed 14. ;)
shock6906 01-17-2006, 12:09 PM I don't see why everybody's so worried about what it means, doce, catorce...who cares, hey...get a spanish translator out...they're all over the internet. And while you're there, look this one up: quién cuidados, u2 sopla
OctaneZ28 01-17-2006, 01:04 PM I'd like to know the artists/titles of the songs used in the unveiling.
The music was awesome, and a perfect fit.
I still enjoy watching the unveiling video, and I still watch it 4-5 times a day... does that make me crazy? :D
(and yes U2 does say "catorce" which is 14, in reference to the album being their 14th released album)
merlinsteele 01-17-2006, 07:09 PM As long as they don't play, "I'm com'in out!" :D
