guionM 12-08-2005, 08:58 PM Since Dave letterman and I share the same birthday (separated by something like a few dozen years) I felt like stealing his "10 Best" for a specific purpose I've been itching to do for many, MANY months.
Not picking on anyone, just picking out the assorted things that have shown up here.
Top 10 things we shouldn't be hearing any more on this site.... (not including "The Forum"..:yuck: :
Number 10
"It's going to be way too retro"
Number 9
"It's not going to come out till 2010... if then!"
Number 8
"It's going to look like the second gen".
Number 7
"It's going to look like the SS concept"
Number 6:
"GM still isn't sure what platform they're going to use!"
Number 5:
"The Camaro is going to be tooooo big!"
Number 4:
"I'm never going to buy a Camaro unless they........"
Number 3:
"I'm never buying a GM product unless they......."
Number 2:
"Sales figures don't matter! Camaro is going to continue to be what the 4th gen was... (or words to that effect)... because Camaro enthusiasts (meaning the person doing the writing) will demand it (though the rest of the car buying public doesn't), and if they don't listen to us (meaning the person doing the writing) I'm going to.... (sit in the corner and hold their breath till I pass out)".
And finally........Number 1:
"Camaro's not coming back..... get over it!"
Bonus:
Automobile Magazine a couple of issues ago stated that the Camaro name was dead and buried. Might have another "Dewey defetes Turman" article there. :)
HAZ-Matt 12-08-2005, 09:02 PM Ha. Too bad "Z28 is the top Camaro" or "SS is the top Camaro" isn't on there.
94Camaro_Z_28 12-08-2005, 09:04 PM That debate will never end.....until my Z drops the SS :D
But yes, at least we can eliminate those ten things....though I'm just waiting for someone that lives under a rock to tell us, once again, they have inside sources and that the Camaro is dead....just you wait.

Supergrobo82 12-08-2005, 09:42 PM Nice one Guy, you oughta get out of the automotive writing business and get into the the comedic one.

It is true
It's still too early to answer most of those questions until the production model is released but at least you can say that "the Camaro is never comming back, get over it" people were wrong.
mike996 12-08-2005, 10:21 PM How was "Keep the faith" not on that list?
HAZ-Matt 12-08-2005, 10:30 PM lots o' stuff
Always the optimist, huh? :)

Motor Trend insisted in its latest issue that the V8 rwd car GM was revealing would be a Pontiac sedan. On a general note, do any real reporting in that magazine, or just make stuff up? I'm starting to get the impression that MT is the National Enquirer of the auto press.
Back on topic, my computer managed to take a crap on me the day the pictures came out. Imagine that, I've religiously checked this and other sites on basically a daily basis for about a year. The one day my computer fails, we get the biggest car story of the past five years. Well, at least the car is worth the wait. Can't wait to see pictures of the completed car.
BTW, I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere already, but is the main shot we're looking at actually two slightly different models spliced together?
stars1010 12-09-2005, 12:25 AM BTW, I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere already, but is the main shot we're looking at actually two slightly different models spliced together?
Its has been discussed everywhere, but since you asked nicely...
The picture we are looking at are of a clay model...
These are very expensive to make so GM will usually design slightly different styles on both the driver and passenger side then use large mirrors to get a full around veiw of each one.
Saves money and you get to see more than one look.
Did that make sense?
EVILFACE 12-09-2005, 12:27 AM The "it will be front wheel drive" will be put to rest.
Big Als Z 12-09-2005, 02:45 AM DAMN YOU EVIL!! I came here to post just that!!
But we will hear
"GM will screw up production"
"GM will screw up performance"
"GM will cheap out the interior"
"GM will stop carring and pour money into SUV's"
"GM will price it out of reach"
Here is to shutting up thoes who did not keep the faith.
DrewSG 12-09-2005, 03:18 AM Good ole Bob Cosby ripping it up
jg95z28 12-09-2005, 09:47 AM Always the optimist, huh? :)No, just the typical Mustang-apologist. :p

We're going to be paying huge dealer mark-up$ until 2010
Bob Cosby 12-09-2005, 02:28 PM No, just the typical Mustang-apologist. :p
Insert mirror, replace "Mustang" with "Camaro".
:D
PS....what did stars say yesterday....oh ya....something like "lighten up".

I actually have a friend who works for GM, he insists that the Camaro nameplate will not be coming back.
No matter how many times I tell him, he still doesn't believe me.
BigBlueCruiser 12-09-2005, 08:17 PM Well I said 2010. 5 years out.
Is 3 years out any reason to start saving my pennies?

That's what I'm not looking forward to. :(
I know I'm going to want one - but I also believe it will be out of the common mans reach.
Damn.

GM may have been 'careful' about what to call their RWD coupe, but if it comes out looking like those photos, there's no way it could be called Chevelle over Camaro.
Fbodfather 12-11-2005, 02:25 AM Good list, Guy!

As I recall, there are many that kept saying that.......

Anyway, I wish there was a running list of the doubters among us. :D
SNEAKY NEIL 12-11-2005, 09:50 AM Anyway, I wish there was a running list of the doubters among us.
Absolutly. If I remember, there wasn't too many who said it would never come back but will any of those people step up and admit they were wrong?
Brandon_Lutz 12-11-2005, 11:48 AM My Ex girlfriend is in hell right now. She was a avid Mustang lover and loved to hate on my favorite car of all time. Now she has to eat crow by admitting she was wrong hehehe. Thank you Scott and everyone at GM for bringing it back. The satisfaction knowing I'll own a new one a few years down the road is worth it :)
OutsiderIROC-Z 12-11-2005, 01:28 PM Absolutly. If I remember, there wasn't too many who said it would never come back but will any of those people step up and admit they were wrong?
I was one of the doubters that you are referring too, but I also said that this was one instance where I hope that Chevrolet proves me wrong.
And when the car starts showing up on showrooms at the stealerships, I will.
