IREngineer 12-07-2005, 12:36 PM Those Bud Ice penquins sure were cool....sorry, trying to break the tension a little:p ...
Haven't talked wheels in a while, have we? Let's do that. Based on things that are or are not floating around, what type of wheel are you all thinking? I think a wheel similar to the Y2K C5 wheels would be cool. Maybe a 2008 rendition of the salad shooter??

cause i cant see anything other then the elephant...
Chris 96 WS6 12-07-2005, 12:38 PM LOL, hopefully the Salad Shooter has been buried for good, never to be resurrected.
I remember how cool they look in 93, but they aged very quickly.

personally i still like the salad shooters... expecially chrome...
but i liked what i saw... but i dont think what i saw, matched up with todays rim styles coming out of GM... look at the Impala SS and Cobalt SS... those wheels are so flat
Big Als Z 12-07-2005, 12:45 PM Hrm yes the elephant is not the color I wanted it to be either...
GM must have a patent on silver.
Anyway...wheels, hrm...I think as of right now, Chrysler/Dodge has the best wheels.
91_z28_4me 12-07-2005, 12:47 PM This elephant may be grey but that doesn't mean what we will see will be.

Same. I actually traded 16x8 chrome ZR1s for salad shooters. Eventually ended up with a set of pristine salads.
The rims looked nice...errr...man that elephant is huge.
NewbieWar 12-07-2005, 12:48 PM This elephant may be grey but that doesn't mean what we will see will be.
no grey is probably a good color to find flaws... or too look at in a bland state and really pay attention to styling...
jcamere94z28 12-07-2005, 12:48 PM As far as wheels go... i believe that we need the next gen to keep up with the current trends on wheel design. something simple but elegant that will also be sporty. I believe that the old 5 spoke SS wheels
http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2006/2006-Dodge-Charger-SRT8-Front-Wheel-1600x1200.jpg
dodge is really getting some nice wheels for their cars... 20 inch wheels should be an option on the top model camaro...
NewbieWar 12-07-2005, 12:50 PM naa i kinda like the direction GM's SS wheels are going, just make the old SS style rims with the new flat faced rims... and you'd have a pretty good rim design i think
IREngineer 12-07-2005, 12:57 PM This elephant may be grey but that doesn't mean what we will see will be.
Listen to this man. I wasn't trying to make this about "elephants", I would really like to talk wheels. We know we are getting a more 1st gen type car, so what so you think would go well? I agree with jcamere94z28, those are pretty hot wheels. How about a dished wheel? Foose is making some great looking wheels right now. I heard he might be working with a f-body competitor for a wheel design...
Chrome383Z 12-07-2005, 01:04 PM WTF did I miss... Elephants??? Good mode of transportation if you live in Africa I guess...

we could tell you but, then we'd have to kill you
turbo96z28 12-07-2005, 01:06 PM i personally like Jason D's rims. a nice 5 spoke dished wheel would look pretty sweet.
91_z28_4me 12-07-2005, 01:08 PM WTF did I miss... Elephants??? Good mode of transportation if you live in Africa I guess...
You heard all the talk about the weight of the 5th gen, turns out it will be as heavy as a elephant. But it should sport a nice trunk.
Thanks folks, be sure to tip your waitress.
rlax31 12-07-2005, 01:09 PM Dammit, i missed it too. I step away from the computer for a couple hours and look what happens. I miss something big.
Oh yes wheels. Not too many/not enough spokes. 5 is perfect. Something that doesn't cover up the rotor/caliper too much too.
I also like the salad shooters. Better than the 10-spokers my Zed came with.
But 5-spokes just look right on a high performance car. Even if a car has "heritage" styling (even if it has way too much heritage styling), the wheels should be contemporary.
Z284ever 12-07-2005, 01:13 PM I think chrome wheels are inappropriate for a Z/28.
Darth Xed 12-07-2005, 01:16 PM I think chrome wheels are inappropriate for a Z/28.
Z06's have them available ;)
FerrMaro 12-07-2005, 01:21 PM i personally like Jason D's rims. a nice 5 spoke dished wheel would look pretty sweet.
Amongst the crowd, a decent post. :D ™

I think the wheels on the "elephant" are nice. I have always liked a good 5 spoke design. Has a good clean look too it.
rlax31 12-07-2005, 01:28 PM the "elephant"
you people are killing me.
how about some discussion of # of wheel packages. What is the possibility that there could be multiple to choose from? Should there be many to chose from? Will a Z28 wheel be a Z28 wheel, or one of many Z28 wheels?
meissenation 12-07-2005, 01:30 PM I'd love to see a TT2 style rim from GM. Seeing as it's going to be retroish, why not go with the most classic looking rims that look good on almost any car? :D
RussStang 12-07-2005, 01:32 PM I would think the z/28s wheels would be Forged aluminum, and be specific to the z/28. That is of course assuming that the z/28 is top, which is still not for sure. I think the wheels on the car in question that is causing such a stir on all the boards has nice wheels, but they don't seem to fit on a top Camaro. I have always liked the c5 y2k wheels, for the simpleness and the fact you get a nice look at the brake rotor and pads. This, of course, is all my opinion.
Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 12-07-2005, 01:33 PM Too...much...tension... But that's what you get after waiting and talking almost 5 years on this board.
I like the wheels on the new Challenger.

Gongos was gray.
NewbieWar 12-07-2005, 01:36 PM This, of course, is all my opinion.
We'll were would we be without that? :D No offense ;)
meissenation 12-07-2005, 01:38 PM we'll were would we be... wow i'm lost lol
unvc92camarors 12-07-2005, 02:02 PM Anybody else think the wheels on the elephant look VERY similar to the Dodge's posted above?
Capn Pete 12-07-2005, 02:19 PM Elephants have legs, not wheels :o. Why do you care about wheels on an elephant anyways?
:p
RussStang 12-07-2005, 02:25 PM We'll were would we be without that? :D No offense ;)
Without my insight? Well....I don't even want to thin about that.;)
RussStang 12-07-2005, 02:26 PM Elephants have legs, not wheels :o. Why do you care about wheels on an elephant anyways?

Because silver elephants that spark lawsuits from GM have wheels. 4 of them to be exact.
94Camaro_Z_28 12-07-2005, 04:07 PM 4 very nice ones at that...and I love my Salad Shooters
jg95z28 12-07-2005, 04:34 PM I kind of like the American Racing GT5.

90 Z28SS 12-07-2005, 09:51 PM One word for ya :
DISH
I am so sick of flangeless flat faced wheels . Lets get back to a nice dished wheel . Not Iroc wheel dished , but nice recessed lip like a TT2 or Fikse FM5 .
No chrome please :) ....competiton grey finish is sweet on the vette wheels , hint hint . I love the smoked machined aluminum finish on my Cobalt SS wheels too .

Right on. Some dish wheels would be superb. I am also sick of the flat ones. With a clean design like we saw, I think dished wheels would go great with it and give it some flare.
SSbaby 12-08-2005, 08:06 PM Will gray wheels get a look in?
