Burnouts

all you with the a4's, what is your method of burnout, i have an ongoing despute with a person who swears that neutral droping does less harm to a car than a brake torque, i dissagree but the burnouts are way better1

neutral dropping is not safe!!!!! that stupid whoever said that...power braking is a lot better than nutral dropping..unless you have money and dont mind replacing your tranny often

neutral dropping is hard on the tranny becasue there is a sudden jolt of power, instead of being gradually brought up like power brakeing, which isn't great for a car but not horrendously bad either.

Neutral dropping is a no, no ;)

Neutral dropping = Broken U-Joints = Call a tow truck. :D

Brake Torquing = Change rear brake pads every so often...

Agreed. Neutral drops are FAR worse for the transmission.

Brake Torquing is the generally accepted way of doing a burnout in an automatic transmission car.

Don't do that neutral droping it is bad.
Our little stock 4E60L and TH700R4 can't take that kind of abuse.
The torque breaking isn't that grat for a stock trans eather it causes a lot of slippage in the torqure converter and clutch disks that makes a lot of heat.
You have a 3.8 doing N drops won't break a U-joint or break the sun gear it will slowly go to all to hell on you and you will have to find a nother one and pay for it.

There cool as hell but no one uses them any more.

Sure! Go ahead and drop from neutral!.............if you want a new tranny.....My friend Adam did that (drop from N) and he's now on a new tranny. Needless to say that his pops wasn't too happy when Adam tried to explain why his tranny blew at only 30k miles.

im the reason not to to a n drop i did a 4 or 5 grand one one time and i broke the 2 piece drivesahft right in halF!!!! $600!!

Damn a new driveshaft for $600? You got ripped off...:)

k i know that burnouts are bad on the tranny either way, but what will be the safest way to burnout, i know that not doing it would be, but im a teenager boy, and of course i have to show off. is there anything i could buy to have safe ones??

the best way to do a safe burnout in an auto is to have enough power to be able to just plant the gas and roast the tires, or if you had a line lock that would be fine on the car. just plain brake torquing isnt that bad, it will take a while until you need a new set of pads

Ummmm......I do, and so does everyone else that wants a good consistent burnout at the track.

Line lock is the way to go, you won't be changing brake pads either. Just don't hold it for too long cause you could damage the solenoid.

What is a line lock and where do I get one? And how hard are they to install?

You have to mess with brake lines, basically its a little thing that you install on to your front brake lines so when you hit a electriacl swithc it pushes fluid in the brake lines, jsut like if you were hitting hte brake pedal, and causes the fornt wheels to lock up, with the fornt wheels locked up, the rear wheels spin because the front wheels are not going anywhere.

I think they are $40-$50
