Not necessarily. The one around here that a local dealer sold went for 90k.

they're asking $100,000 for a $70,000 MSRP vehicle, who cares? it will most likely sell for that much.

I can't afford 70K so I couldn't afford 100K.
Either way I can't have it so why do I care what someone else pays for it.

I'm conflicted over this picture.

In one sense, I want to be mad about the blatant display of greed on the part of this dealer. But in another sense, I can't help but get a little twinge of excitement about how this may be a sign of hope for things to turn around for GM. Greed aside, the fact that this dealer thinks he can actually get this much money for the car REALLY says something about the car don't you think? If, (well more like, when), somebody buys this Z06, it will only be a testament to what GM is capable of when they really set themselves to the task: building a car that is greater than the sum of it's pricetag. (MSRP of course.)

The Solstice is another one. A week ago I saw one go on Ebay for $44K. Now if they can only execute this same phenomenon with about 3 or 4 more cars within the next year, we may start getting somewhere.

What's really funny, is that the dealer still had the gall to put that $50 fee on there, kicking it over $100k. Marking it up $30k, but still wanted that extra 50 bucks. Dealers are slime. Okay not all of them, but this one is.

I'm waiting for Va Beach's Chevy Dealer (RK Chevrolet) to get one just so I can find out how much they are marking them up. They had $10k+ on their 2004 Z06s, and even markup Impalas and Cobalt RSs.

What is that dealers phone #?

Notice they even have the name as "Z0-6", at least spell it right.

EDIT: I looked closer at the pictures, and this IS the dealership where that car is/was at.

It pisses me off like everyone else but the honest truth of it is MSRP is suggested retail price.

Dealer can ask whatever they want. I hope he over shot and no one pays it but someone will.

Someone call them and say you represent the Sultan of Brunei. Tell them the price isnt high enough for the Sultan's taste and he wants to pay 50k over MSRP.

Just wait until next year, and the same dealer will have the same car and will be begging to dump it. They'll deal then. I love the dealer I saw in ME on vacation back over the summer that still had a yellow '04 GTO on the lot. After telling him I work for a Pontiac dealer, I said to him "so, our last '04 was long gone when the $5k rebate came out November '04...so, what was your markup over MSRP at that point?" He grimmaced and walked away.

For the record, the 4 we had for '04 were all sold at MSRP, and all but one were long gone before the big rebates showed up...

ehh i wouldn't go that far.

imho, the cadillac XLR-V is quite a nice vehicle, and is probably almost worth its incredible MSRP (was told MSRP is $100,000 at the orlando auto show last week)


and the hummer H1's are over $100,000, and worth every penny :)

Did anyone notice in the second to last pic (the close up of the rear passenger side) the hatch doesn't seem to line up with the surrounding body work? Looks like it's a little higher.

This dealer is local to me in Portland Oregon. When I bought my Vette, they wouldn't deal with me at all...wouldn't budge an inch, and I even have the GM Employee discount because of who I work for. I ended up driving to Seattle and picked up a Vette for nearly half of what Carr wanted to charge me.

Its pathetic.

I'd bet cash he gets the $100K for it . I have seen on ebay , people are bidding the Z06's up around 90K . Freely placing bids . Theres obviously quite a few who want the Z06 bad enuff , they dont care what they pay for it . For rational people , the good thing is , there are a TON of dealers who arent gonna mark it up . I would think if ya can pop for $68K plus on a new vette , you should be able to swing a one way plane ticket to your deal and have a sweet drive home . I could even swing that if I saw a F-body I just had to have .

However wrong it is , markups exist because people seem to continually fork over the green .

i think its rather ironic that when the original prices were announced there were dozens here that championed how "cheap" the $68k pricetag was, and now there are quite a few who are complaining about how expensive the car is with these markups.

As for the mark-up, if someone sees the MSRP, then the dealers price, and pays the full amount anyway... well, who can you really blame?

but Z06's are in really short supply nearly everyone and there mother wants one... i know that we have nearly 20 people who would put the money down on the spot for that car, but the fact is the only one we got the owner sold to his friend... we wont be getting any more....
