>>> PLEASE NOTE:

"chopped" means its based on another car using Photoshop!
yes I used the PONTIAC GTO concept for a base (for green one) and turned it into a CAMARO concept, a GOOD one!
i started with it but now its totally different, larger wheels, different height&length and wheel base and hood and front fenders and the wheels have been mod too, and lots of other changes you'll notice...

Could be the mustang guy in me, but I like Chris Pauwel's 5th gen visionl, I dont see anything economy about it, I'd consider buying an F-body like this,

400/400 LS motor with an M6, 17 or 18" wheels and I'd prefer an SRA, but the vibe I seem to get is that the next f-body will have IRS not just for driving dynamics, but also packaging reasons.

I have to say, I don't like Chris' version at all. No offense to him, just not seeing Camaro in it.
I do sort of like the red pic in the 1st post. Shrink the body a little more on the nose (make it more aerodynamic maybe?) and it'd look even better.

I like the green one better....the hood is lower than the red one...Isn't too retro, but still says Camaro.

Regarding the true 5th gen that is coming up, I don't know what to think anymore. The main reason I started coming to these boards in the first place was to find info on a possible 5th gen. Now I've become addicted to this site and GMI and C&G. It has gotten to the point that I am looking for the 5th gen so I can get some closure, rather than looking for the 5th gen as a pure enthusiast.

The front end of Chris's just, to me, seems too neutral, like someone's trying to say the hi-po cars won't differe much if any in appearance from the base car, so this look has to cover all all bases.

I think it needs a more agressive face or a chin spoiler, or something else that just isn't coming off top of my head.

I like this better than the blatantly retro cop-outs that have been thrown around here tho....

Looking at it again, I know what it is that I don't like. The lines do not fit for two reasons.

(1) The lines are not parallel with the side lines in the body that run midway through the door panels. The fender lines seem to angle down.

(2) The fender lines to do not blend with the curves of the fenders above them. Both the front and rear fenders are curvy, yet the lines are straight...its like they were put in there as an after thought.

Atomic Shark's is hot looking, but its too retro, imo. Chris's is probably much closer to reality. Remember the nose needs to fit the new Chevy styling cues used by other cars (nee: Cobalt, Malibu, Impala), while still having a Camaroesque vibe to it.

Besides, if I wanted a new '69 Camaro, there are alternatives. :p

An observation about 'traits':

I don't know if it's coinsidental or planned on Chevy's/GM's part, but all the Chevy's coupes have quad tail lamps or dominant reflectors (Cobalt, MC, 'Vette), the sedans do not anymore ('06 Impala).

Could this be a new signiture detail like the red bowtie and chrome spear were?

i hate to use this example but the mustang doesn't share any cues with the other cars in the ford line up. shark's concept does have a cobalt like rear which im not a big fan of. the camaro needs to have its own features and maybe share something like the lights or something minor.

The difference is while Mustang is Ford's halo car, Camaro isn't Chevy's. (The Corvette is.) I'm not saying it'll look like a Bigger Cobalt with RWD, it'll still look like a Camaro; it'll just follow more in line with ever other Chevy coupe with a bowtie. :D

Is it possible to do a front end that does NOT look like it's grafted from a '69? :irk:

That looks like a long lost friend and is instantly recognizable as a Camaro, like fbodfather said. See, we can all get what we want! And it also happens to be bada@#!.....I love it, and I can't wait to see what we get.

How do you like this one?

This is plumcrazy's work over at C&G. If you see this Plum, I hope you don't mind I posted these here, just seemed like a good place. With all due respect:

He's a great artist, but too much of the same themes in his sketches....all are loooong and swoopy.

OK, now we're communicating!:thumb:

- #3: looks a little to 'Vette-ish' to me, but that's the proportions in the way it's drawn (long hood and door to rear wheel spacing looks like a 2 seater), I like the squinty headlights, definately a well timed change from the current tall and wide trend.

- #2: I like the overall proportions and stacked headlights, not crazy about the 'Avalanche-style' grill,

- #1: This one is my favortite from an overall stance and profile standpoint. I appreciate trying to modernize a 2nd gen nose, but I think it makes the front too round or bubble-ish.

Now, if you took #1, moved that grill down on the ground, added a shovel like chin spoiler (think '95-'97 Z24) with the chin tucked in, added #2's or #3's headlights (and maybe made them single projectors so they're not as wide and really define the corners of the car), and wow(!).....you're really onto something.

Those are a breath of fresh air. (God I wish I had time to still doodle cars....)

The profile on this one is right on!! The 2nd-gen nose could be grafted on a little better but that car looks throughly modern and familiar. The other two crossed over into exotic land. Can you say Fisker?
