1988 iroc-z

my friend just got an 88 iroc-z with full boltons, including exhaust, and it might have a camshaft. i have a 2002 z28, almost entirely stock. i have an ls6 intake manifold, and i removed the MAF screen. he wants to race me, and im sortof weary if he has all those mods. will i win?

Run him its the only way you'll ever know. I'd run him hard and not make any mistakes. I'd hate to miss a shift and try explaining that to him if he won. I say beat em and shut him up.

Yes, I think it will. The heads on the 3rd gen cars are terrible in flow compared to the LS1 cars.

I wouldn't be so sure, need to know the exact setup/mods. A strong L98 car driven well w/ full bolt-ons (I would include some intake mods for "full bolt-ons") could easily run well on into the 13s, give a stock LS1 a great run... Then again it could be missing a couple of the bolt ons, could have crappy 2.77 gears, etc. I would also assume since the car is new to your buddy he probably won't quite get the best outta it and is unlikely to know how well in tune it is, etc.

I would be betting on you most likely (without knowing his exact setup), but I wouldn't say you will definitely win, he could beat you in the 1/4...

Yes even w/ a cam...3rd gens fall on there face fast. He would probably run or be damn close (depending on cam) w/ a cammed LT1 uptop let alone a turd gen..The Ls1 will anniliate him...especially being a 02.

I have a 91 TA (L98), and I beat my friends LT1....I know it is not an LS1, but my car is stock from the factory...although it does have an SLP package from the factory. Anyway, I am not sure what you are saying when you say "full" bolt ons, cause full bolt ons would not beat an LS1....now if it has heads and good cam and all bolt ons and is properly tuned....well it may be close but LS1 should still win. If it had Vortech heads, LT4 hot cam and Vortech HSR.....then I would think he would probably beat an LS1....I will tell you next year, cause those are the mods I am going to do next....along with megasquirt II computer so I can properly tune my car. I was going to do a full crate motor, but decided to do these othe rmods till my bottom end blows up.

I dont know how...maybe he has 1 too many miles on that LT1...I had a few mods on my 97 and use to race a kid around my area w/ a full bolt on L98 roc and it was over before it started everytime....Lt1 was leaps and bounds over a l98 as was the Ls1 over the LT1...No stock vs. stock or similar mods race shouldnt be close. A properly driven Ls1 will crush a bolt on/ cammed 350 turd gen.

At this time I do not know ne1 with an LS-1, but once I get my mods....I will tyr to find someone and see. I am not sure, cause I do not know everything about an LS1. LS1 Stock= 330 hp? I am not sure if that is correct or not, but I think it is. Just going by my own thinking....which could be worng.....I would say the mods I listed above should easily make 330 hp or more and with the proper tuned engine....it should be a good race. Of course do a few things to the LS1 and the old terd gen is seeing tail lights again. But I like my terd gens either way.

I am talking about u and ur pansy *** GF's LT1. I had you 3 cars out of dig and yes you passed me by 1-1/2 cars in ur third gear, and we stayed that way......but as I have said in previous posts (I just shortened this one) You know as well as I know that was when my tranny was slipping real bad and it was stuck shifting between 2nd and 3rd when u passed me......then once you passed and shifted to fourth and my car finally went into drive I held u there then we let off. And since ur gay *** doesn't even talk to me anymore....for only you and god knows why that is......seems we will not find out if I can fully beat you with my new tranny. And I have posted this before saying I wonder if I could beat you now with my tranny fixed, but since you you are done using my house to work on your cars and wash your cars and now do not talk to me....then I guess I will never know. Maybe I shouldn't have shortened up the story in here, but did not feel like going into detail over same story again.
