what would you do? Z06 related.

this is a bit off subject, but seeing how im best known in these forums i just wanted some feedback.

Well ive been SERIOUSLY considering getting a 2006 Z06, after speaking with a friend of mine at the local dealership, i found out some of the GM discounts and what-not im eligable for.

I decided i should wait to see if i would get my bonus this year, well its official Net sales have increased 27% this year so its official. I was thinking about swooping up a 05 suburban, but with the light of all this im seriously thinking about getting the C6.

Way i break it down, i could get about this for my cars.

Z28-$8,000
Vette-$21,000
+Bonus $7550

use $30,000 down, and it would be affordable, so what would you do? I could comfortably afford it with that type of down payment, but would the burban be a better all around idea (it is but dont tell me that!)

is the thrill worth the price? I couldnt get delivery until may 2006' thats the only thing killing me.

Give me some feedback

I would still buy it, even if was my only car, as long as I could afford it without bending over backwards. I always find some way to get through the winter in these kinds of cars, and that car is just too mean to pass up.

I'd buy a C6 Z06 if I could afford it but if you don't have much flexible money month to month or enjoy the flexibility of your budget as is, I'd just buy a C5 Z06 for now and buy a C6 when they become more reasonable; and as long of a wait as it may seem, just a few years from now you'll be able to pay cash for one @ 30 grand.

Oh, and buying a brand new GMT-800 right now is crazy IMO even if you can bargain a bit better of a price. The GMT-900s look like they'll be much improved and worth the premium.

Lastly, I'd say this is pretty much 100% lounge material.

It is lounge material kinda, but it may lead to a Z06 reveiw! Which is kinda this materials fortee (maybe haha)

Yea in a couple years i could probally ****** up a C6 Z06 for 30K, on the same token though my cars values will fall and it would pretty much the same as buying it in todays market new i want the first touch the car takes outside of GM | Dealership to be with my sweaty, clamly hands!

Not trying to troll your thread, but 21k for a '97 vette, in any condition, is unrealistic. For trade in, expect probably 14k tops.

Yea i figured as much actually.

Just turned 40,000 miles, booked for about $20,000 i beleive. I wouldnt trade in when the waiting list is almost 8 months long according to the dealer.

You want to consider consumables, maintnance, accidents, etc..

In other words.. If you sell your cars, stretch yourself out a bit.. will you have enough money to comfortable "play" with the car? Hitting the tracks and so forth.. fixing things you break... especialyl since things you break at the track, may not necessarily be covered by normal insurance..

Thats one of the many reasons I love my 99 Z28... I'm financially comfortable with trashing it around, on the street, mods, and at the roadcourse..

Heck, just jump on an '05 for 40-45k. It sounds stupid, but would you REALLY notice the difference between a 400hp and a 500hp car on a daily basis?

If you really need the utility of the 'Burban, I would say to get that now and keep your Camaro and 'Vette for your thrills...We all know about the kind of engines that are commin' in '08, I think they should be worth the wait. It's not like your current rides aren't cool Then again, if you were to get a new Z06 I don't think anyone could blame you for not wanting to wait, they are pretty much the definition of vehicular badass-ness right now
