Smile Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

Just thought I'd share this with the rest of the community, I am sure some of you have already seen it. No, this is not my listing, I have nothing to do with this car or the seller just found it astonishing that an f-body has a 1.25 million dollar asking price!

Check it out, e-bay item # 4586414296.

Again this is purely to pass on to other board members, I just happened to run across it while browsing!

Re: Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

Apparently it went as high as $800,000.00 the last time.
So the logic here is that if someone will pay $800K surely they will pay 1-1/4 million.

Re: Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

Here's only a small portion of what this guy typed in his E-bay ad.

"Here is the cold hard facts. First we have a car that only 69 units were ever built. I personally know of 42 existing today of the 69 produced. I also know 3 cars are unaccounted for. I also know which 3 are unaccounted for. No I will not tell you which cars they are. I may locate one some day. Consider this, of the 42 cars remaining at this point only 26 cars aren't rebodied, vin swapped, or have misc issues such as missing trim tags, chopped up and reassembled. Do you want to shell out 1 million dollars for a car without the original body numbers and trim plates let alone the original parts and pieces? I sure the heck wouldn't dream of it. Then we have the issue of trying to obtain one of these cars from the people who currently own them. I can tell you this, most of the guys who now possess the cars are not in it for the money or a profit. Does anyone think that a guy with 30, 40 or 50 cars needs to sell a car like a 1969 ZL-1 Camaro to make a little cash? Certainly not. These people are well financed and wealthy individuals. I certainly can't or won't mention names. I do know almost all of them. Basically the response when asked if they wished to sell their ZL-1 car is NO CHANCE! Not for sale etc. Ofcourse what do you offer a man in trade in the Chevrolet world for a 1969 ZL-1 Camaro? The 1967 L-88 Corvette will run you 1.5 to 1.8 million right now. Hemi Cudas are atleast 2.5- 4.5 million. The ZL-1 Camaro is a far better car than anything Chrysler ever made. The L-88 Corvette had a production of 20 cars. Try to buy one of the really nice examples remaining. Good Luck! What else is there? Nothing else compares to the power or collect ability of a ZL-1. Good god the car still holds records 36 years later. Are you kidding me? No I am not. The ZL-1 Holds several NHRA racing records to this day."

Sounds like a self-absorbed long-winded tool to me.

Re: Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

Someone should e-mail him and tell him they would be happy to pay the 1.25 million IF it was a ZL-1 CORVETTE!! There were only 2 production models built. One of them sold for $300,000 in 1989...even though the value was estimated at $500,000.

Re: Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

Not sure why you guys are dissing him, or his car. You can't deny it's a very rare automobile. You also can't deny that he is very right, the type of people interested in this car are not those that try to scrape up some pennies to afford it. There's a very good possiblity that the only reason he's listing this car on ebay is for publicity. There's over 22,000 views and there are still 6 days left. Where the hell else can you find that? I'm willing to bet he put a ridiculous price up strictly to avoid all the BS he went through last time he posted it. If someone with the means came, saw the car, made a legitimate offer less than $1.25 mil he would take it in a heart beat.

I personally think it's an amazing piece of automobile history and if I could afford it I would gladly make this guy an offer.

Re: Million dollar camaro FS on E-bay

I didn't see anyone dissing his car...If he gets anywhere near his asking price, then more power to him....That kind of money is so far out of my realm of possibility that I had to poke fun. Would I love to have that car? Yes...but will I? No.....

How about Barrett-Jackson etc.?

Like I said, I don't really think Ebay is the right venue for selling this type of car.

Not dissing his car. Totally the opposite! AWESOME CAR!!!

But I'm just wondering his reasons for putting it on Ebay... Sure, it's going to cost him helluva lot more $$$ to list it at B-J etc., but at least he would most likely get serious bidders for it.

And since it looks like doesn't have any shortage on cash, why not then do it, rather than spending $100 on an Ebay auction which is not going to get him anywhere.

Unless he just wants to get publicity for himself/his car/his company.

I'd rather buy a ZL-1 crate engine from GMPP for $22k. Buy a great rolling chassis 69 Camaro, mate it to a Muncie M-22. Total investment=50k for a fake ZL-1. Then wait for a ZL-1 Vette to be sold again for less than a million.

Contrary to popular knowledge or belief Barrett Jackson won't even allow a reserve on an automobile anymore. "No reserve" on a car of that value (at least to the current owner) would be crazy.
