I have a 2002 Camaro Z28 with a ground control coilover kit with koni SA shocks on the front.

I am getting a clunking sound from the front of the car. It is pretty consistent if I drive the care for a while then go in reverse and step on the brakes hard. When the weight comes off the front suspension I get a lound clunk noise. It also sometimes happens when I am turning the steering wheel when I am not moving very fast, like parallel parking. So it sounds like something is moving around and binding and then when the weight changes it shifts position.

I checked the upper and lower shock nuts/bolts and they are all tight. I also got under there and all of the ball joints look ok. I also just grabbed onto the different parts of the suspension and yanked on them to see if anything was loose or if I could hear a noise, but nothing looks amiss.

Has anyone had a similar issue and/or have any suggestions?

Did you install the shocks yourself?

If the upper shock nut is installed loose that can cause this problem.

Do you know for sure that the Dog Bone rubber piece was installed inside the upper mount?

Was a washer used on the shaft of the shock below the upper mount?

If this stuff is done wrong the shock rod can punch a hole through the shock tower.

I have not done the GC kit, so al I can do is suggest things to check.

Good Luck
