hey all, finally got my car to the drag strip last night
ok, for those not familiar, here's a brief description of my mods
stroked 383, 10,8:1 compr.
self ported stock heads stock valves
R lifters comp. 233/239 5.80" lift cam combo motorsports single springs
jet hot longtubes offroad ypipe edelbrock catback
elec. WP, roller rockers 1.6, ported intake, 52mmtbody, 373 gears, drag lites
and et streets, skinnies up front, removed swaybar/strut brace (temporary),
MSD 6al, sfc's and prolly more little stuff
anyways, here's how the night went
first run off the trailer
12.47 @109 1.80 60'
but the trans didnt hold 2nd gear for some reason. I manually shift, and when i went into 2nd, it hit 2nd and went right into 3rd so it pretty much boged for a sec. or so. right away I was happy cause i know that will kill the et so I knew there was potential to go alot faster if I could get it to hold 2nd gear.
run two
12.14 @112 mph 1.77 60'
I put more preload into the TV cable and it worked. this time 2nd gear was good all the way to redline (about 6500rpm).
run 3
12.28 @111.67
this time I hit the rev limiter at the top of 2nd gear but the rest of the run was clean.
run 4
13..14 @75pmph
I dont know what happened on this run. shift into 2nd and for some reason it was locked into the revlimiter so I just let off and coasted/drove the rest of the track from the midway point.
run 5
12.09 @ 112.09 mph 1.79 60'
this was the best and final run of the night up against a blown / dual quad sportin 78 TA that was runnin hard all night. but this was not his pass cause something let go for him after the 330 foot timing lights cause he was .17 and about half a car length ahead of me when whatever happened. he would have beat me, but not by much. he has slicks and look to be launching very hard, but he only pulled a 1.77 to my 1.78 sixty foot. watching the video my car doesnt pick up the front almost at all it seems. I dont mean off the ground, but I mean seperate the top of the front tire from the bottom of the fender. so the car def. needs some HAL shocks/springs up front. these et streets have about 2000 street miles on them, and about 15 pass' on them now (they were on my Iroc too) and they still hook very good. i hardly had to spin them at all to get them to hook. I should have experimented with even shorter burnout times thinkin of it now.
so considering I have yet to install the right tune (this tune is for a 350cid) and I need a much more aggressive stall conv. (4000 stall, should act. stall to the mid 3K range in this car) AND correct the 2 gear glitch I should be deep into the 11's on a street car, w/no weight savings and leather int. with air conditioning to boot! YES!
so know im second guessing putting in a TH400 and thinkin I'll just build this trans right and keep my overdrive. a manual valve body would fix this trans up perfect really. dont konw how long it would last, but thats the only probl. I had with it was related to when it shifted into 3rd.

Great times man, I hope to break 12s next year, I've decided that mid 13s was'nt fast enough for me. My friends told me I would'nt stop modding o well I'll stop when I break 12s

That is awesome.......You are right, keep the OD and get a bigger converter. I am going to a 3800 Fuddle. You can get a good converter from them for chaep. I have heard nothing but good things from them. What converter do you have in the car now?

Awesome Chris!!! I told ya your car felt as strong as mine. Just get your trans done by Larry that did mine and forget the th400. Save some $$$.

Hey Chris, I'd say keep the overdrive, you need it to go over 120mph. If you want I can build up your trans like I did mine, all great internals, totally reworked valve body, etc. My trans shifts immediately, I'll let you drive mine to see if you like it.

O and my internet service was one of those things that was put on that burner so forgive me if I dont repone for a while have to use it here it at work and it's always crazy busy here.
