The car makes a whaw whaw whaw sound from the front end when not on the brakes. As soon as I hit the brakes, the sound goes away. The car doesn't pull and the steering wheel doesn't vibrate, so I'm a bit stumped as to what this might be. Any ideas?

Hub going bad? Brakes just rubbing a bit? Wheel rubbing something in the wheel well? Its hard to say, have someone ride on the hood to get a better look, Little brothers work great ;)

Try lane changes at 40+ miles an hour. If the sound goes away when you turn one direction (changes the load on the bearing), it's a wheel bearing. I had one fail; you could here the sound going straight or left turns, but the sound went away making right turns. It's usually the bearing on the opposite side of the car from the turn that makes the noise (i.e. noise when turning right, left side wheel bearing).
