With all the conjecture about what will happen with the new camaro...

It seems it has been overlooked that none of us, save maybe one or two people have any really concrete idea on what the car will look like, what engine, paint schemes, etc etc.

I know it is easy to get caught up in the frenzy but I think it would do a lot of good to this section, and it seems it has to a degree, to cut the emotion down somewhat. Let's think logically about things. No offense to guionM, scott, or anybody else in the know, but you can't tell us what(and if) you really know what is going or not. Yes this car is coming, hopefully in 2008/2009 but I mean that's really about it that we know. That seems to change a fair amount itself so we really don't know much do we?

I see so many people getting insanely caught up in arguments about a product that doesn't exist yet. I want a badass camaro here now too, but it isn't happening. Not for a while.

Further, I think the cold reality that the possibility of it lasting for a very long time when it does return is extremely questionable. Not only will it have to deal with the mustang, but also the DCX competition with whatever they bring to the party and the camaro will be late. This is not a market where you want to show up late unless you can just wow everyone.

I guess what I am saying is I would like to see more factual posts in here, instead of conjecture. I know people are chomping at the bit for any news on the new camaro, but if it can't be proven I'm not sure it really does any good, you know? Not trying to bring anyone down, but until we even see the concept( or pre production whatever you want to call it) we really don't have anything do we?

I think we're just at the point where we actually know more than we should, and that if we were ordinary car enthusiasts, like the ones that read MT for their insider news :lol:, we would be blissfully ignorant. But the fact is, we know what is coming, we just don't have any details. Most, if not all, of the discussions here are based on our suppositions about what those details are, but many times, it ends up sounding like we're throwing facts around when in reality, very few people are in the know about the facts. And even those can and probably will change to some extent before the car makes production.

But if people stop giving us tid bits of info here and there, wouldn't we be just as uninformed as the guys that just read MT for thier insider news? Maybe the problem sin't people posting things that can't be proven, maybe it is that when someone does post that type of stuff we always have a person that wants to try to disprove that information when they can not prove it wrong other then by saying they don't think it's true. I think we just ahve too many people that want to argue. But I think it's fine. I like getting half ass insider info. It's better than nothing!

It's just old, it's been how many years and we are still stuck with the same "Well maybe this is happening" from one source followed up with "Wellllll I think you might find it's this ;)".

Maybe two years ago the guessing game still held an appeal, and for you it may still, but personally I think by this point we should be getting facts or nothing at all.

I want the talk to end and them to suprise use with a bad@ss car.... thats not gonna happen tho. The couldn't keep the wraps on the Z06 so why would this be different?

I would think we Can attribute alot (atleast some) of the conjecture and differences in info from the right hand at GM not knowing what the left hand is doing.

not exactly sure what you mean by this, but I can assure you that very few people within GM are privy to future product plans. That's the way it should be.

RP, can you confirm one tidbit? Generally speaking :D if something is going to be at the NAIAS of any year, how many months in advance do they have to have the show-room model finished? Would this be something that would be finished 6 months in advance, only coming together a month before the show?

"Generally Speaking" it varies from show car to show car. Some show cars are finished a day before unveiling (2004's Ford Shelby is an example I believe) and some are thought to be finished a few months before a show, only to get a few tweaks before the show (cough cough).

But again here we go with the conj........conje, what was that big word he used,.......ah hell, the rumors. :D

Should have explained that better...People on this site and other sites (insiders) get there info from different sources and it doesn't always jive. I hope that explained what I'm thinking better.
