I believe this book just came out about a year ago?

I haven't read the book from cover to cover but from what I have seen of it, it looks to be really informative. Especially when you compare it to the books already out there on supercharging... mostly just old school (like me) roots stuff.
Chuck Riddeck is an engine development guy.... use to frequent this board quite a bit. He recommended Corky's Turbo book to me, which says alot.... cause if he feels highly enough of Mr. Bell to recommend his book then the guy must know his stuff. And from reading the Turbo book, I've come to the conclusion that he does. JMHO.

Well been reading it all night and here's what I think so far. over half way done.
So far I've learned 2 things. But I've disagreed with many others and I'm getting sick of the statements like. The manufactures books have this and other publications have that.
I've learned more from the manufactures advertisments and bias statements. read: procharger.com and vortech.com. At least you can tell what is a blatent lie!
What? I thought I was going to get some recommendations? Nothin yet

Here's what he's got for cams. CALL A TOP NOTCH CAM MANUFACTURE AND LET THEM PICK OR JUST KEEP THE STOCKER. DUUUUHHHHH!!!!

The one thing we do agree on is HEAT, HEAT, HEAT Managment!

Don't know what to tell ya... maybe (if at all possible) you should have previewed the book before you bought it.

Hell, I disagree with alot of what Warren Johnson says but that's mostly because I'm not an expert. I can't see the countless hours of trial and error testing he's used to come to his conclusions. Corky's an engineer and ex turbo-shop owner... so right there we know the guy doesn't know his **** from a hole in the ground.

All sarcasm aside, I don't know how anyone would set guidelines for cam selection with the plethora of variables that goes into something like that. Even if he had written a chapter on valve events, explaining how each event effects engine output..... hell that'd still just leave you scratching your head, trying to relate the info to what goes on in a boosted engine. Why not leave that up to the guys who design the cams??

What exactly were you expecting?

The best education I've found is in hanging with guys that have similiar cars and goals.... seeing what works for them and use it/adapt it to your own specific goals.

Just my 2 centavos.

I've sorta flipped though it while I was at the bookstore. There's some good info in there but it seemed quite similar to his other book "Maximium Boost".

As far as cams go aside from some very basic guidelines I think it would be pretty hard for him to make specific recommendations. Mainly because the book deals with all kinds of motors. Not just SBC's.

I hear ya! And that's why I'm here. To listen. I just feel that it's so "basic". Still got a quarter to go so I'm hopin.
Technology flies too cause the best time he can report with a centrifigal is 8.49 mustang. Seems weird that in only a year it can be so "dated". But that's progress for ya.
Maybe I was just looking for an inside look into someones racing program. ha ha. yeah, right. for $24. I'm such a dreamer.

Pretty good after all.

FINISHED.
THE BOOK ENDED STRONG. SHOWED SPECIFIC CALCULATIONS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM AS INSTALLED ON A BMW Z3.
Pretty good book after all but no real "secrets". Seems to be solid fundamentals within which should allow one to ask the right "questions" before a major purchase.
Should even be able to do all the calculations one's self if you wanna crack out the calculator and take some "measurements"
