I was thinking about buying an SLP Ultra-Z hood. My first question is are there any good/bad review about it? Does it really add horsepower, or should I but a Ram Air hood and system for a few extra hundred dollars? Second question: it says that they will only ship it to a business or body shop, not a home address. I plan to put in on the car myself, so will a body shop really receive it and let me come pick it up? Is this really how it works? Thanks.

 

does it add performance?

If you make it functional it's equivilant to a cold air kit like those available from K&N, Moroso, etc.. So, yes it adds performance.

as for reviews... The fit can be hit or miss. It took a bit of "adjusting" the fenders and nose on my car to get it to line up right. I had to slot some brackets and move some things around to get it. This is fairly normal for any hood fitment I think. The quality of the SLP hoods is very good, OEM type stuff.

I had mine shipped to the body shop. I used my van to go get it and bring it home for my trial fitment. After fitting it, I removed it and took it back to the shop for paint. They painted it and I picked it up and took it home for final installation.

i really like mine. compliments the lines of the car very well, IMO its the best looking hood out there, check out my sig for pics. it fits quite well on my car, the previous owner installed it so i dont kno if he had to do much to get it to fit right. but i love the looks and get complimented on it all the time...
