help shameful loss
tonight me and buddy went and ran them we have ran them dozens of times when we used to race we measured his loss by 4-5 cars we both had cutots and intakes but for some reason he wanst that fast. tonight we raced i now have hooker lt's custom ypipe off headers to one slp dual intake airfoil tb bypass 3.23 and khumo's with about 80% tread. now he has intake catback (pieced together) 2300 stall stock tranny same as me same tires less tread and intrax 2 in srpings (thats all). he beat me by about 4 cars i tried to launch first time aat about 1700rpm sat there and had a burnout contest by myself he hooked up good left. second time i luanched 1500 same thing cooked them had to let off get back on ran him down but still had about 3 on me. i know the launch is one of the most important things but why couldnt i hook up the tires are 245-50-16. help suggestions and anything ese weird situation. i am going to dyno tommorow in rpm in lewisville tx to see what is my output never have dynod before. please write back with any ideas thanks

Wow, indeed. Let's see if I can translate:
Ah, that's better. Now, on to your question. You don't have a sig and you didn't say what your car is, so going off of your screen name, I'm guessing you have a '93 Trans Am. You also don't say anything about what your buddy drives, but you seem to expect the cars to perform similarly, so I'm guessing he has a 4th-gen LT1 as well. Both cars have automatic transmissions.
You want to know why he's beating you now? Because the only mod you've done to improve your launch is your tires. He has the same tires, suspension, and a 2300-stall converter. You run him down once you get hooked, so you obviously has more power. He's just getting more of it to the ground sooner than you are.
Get yourself a nice converter and do all the usual stuff to the rear suspension, and you should take him easily. If you're planning on doing more power mods, you should consider a wider rear tire, too.

Since the last time we raced, I have added Hooker LT's and a custom Y-pipe (no cats) going to one SLP Dual muffler. I also added an airfoil, TB bypass, 3.23 gears, and Kuhmo tires (245/50-16).
He has some new mods too: a homebrew catback, 2300 stall, Intrax 2" lowering springs, and the same Kuhmo tires I'm using.
I couldn't get my car to hook. I tried launching at 1700rpm and spun them hard -- he hooked and took off, winning by about four carlengths. On the second run, I tried a 1500rpm launch with similar results. Once I got hooked up I was able to close the gap a little, but he still won by three cars.
I can't get my car to launch right. This seems weird to me. What am I doing wrong?
Tomorrow, I'm going to get my car dynoed at a shop in Lewisville, TX. I've never been on the dyno before.

Re: help shameful loss
thanks...my universal translater was on the fritz...
traction is everything.
have you done routine maintenance recently? maybe he slipped something more into his car when you weren't looking.
something as simple as bad gas could cause knock retard and cost you a race.
