I purchased some AR 200s wheels (17.9.5") from a guy who had them on his LS1 TA. On his car the wheels tucked nicely into the wheel well, but on my car the front wheels kinda stick out of the wheel well. Is the backspacing on the LT1 and the LS1 different? Is there anything I can do to make them go more "inward" toward the car? They appear fine on the rear, just not the front.

Did you make sure the wheel hub opening on the wheels was big enough for your front hubs??
If it isn't just grind the wheel hub opening a little bit until it fully seats against the hub.
EDIT: also he may have gotten a different offset for the front and rear wheels maybe you have the rears on the front and visa versa

The fenders on the TA's flare out a little more than camaros. That's why they look good on his car but sit too wide on yours.

Are the front hubs different than the rear? They look okay on the rear...
Also, the part that goes flat against the hub doesn't have any indentions like my stock wheels did, it's just flat.

Well I measured the backspacing on all the wheels, they are all 6.5". How do I calculate offset from this?
Also, I noticed the tires are 285/40/17, maybe the wider tires are what is sticking out more than normal.

The "hub" problem is more common when trying to put the 97 and later wheels on 96 and earlier cars. And its the rear wheels you have problems with, since its the rear hubs that are 0.03" larger on the 1996 and earlier cars (the change-over, making the hubs equal diameter front and rear occured sometime around the end of the 96 model year and beginning of 97 model year). So, I don't think its a "hub" problem.
For a 9.5" wheel, a 6.5" backspace calculates out to an offset in the range of 32-35mm. That is a shade less than the absolute minimum offset you can use on these cars and be sure thetires/wheels will stay under the fenders. The difference in fender contours between the Firebid and the Camaro might be enough to account for them being "more" outside the front fender on one car than another.
My recommendation is that you look for a 9.5" wide wheel with at least a 45mm offset. I've seen 38mm wheels that looked good on some cars, and bad on others. And of course the added width of a 285 compared to a 275 will add another 1/4" to the problem.
There's no way "to make them go more "inward" toward the car?". The offset is what it is and you can't change it.... well, you could try and machine the surface of the moounting hub down a bit, but then you run the danger of increased chances of sracking or having a lug pull right through the hub.... sort of dangerous.

my rebels are a 24mm offset. :( they stick out further than I like but damn they look so good. I would love to get some black ZR1's but right now i dont have the dough.
