car will not Idle all of the sudden

I have a 86 Iroc 305 TPI....this morning I started my car, it started fine idled for about 30 seconds then I realized I forgot got something in my house so I shut off the car...because my house key is on the same keychain...when I was done getting what I needed, I tried to start my car again...and not it just cranked and cranked...soI waited a minute or so and tried starting it again...it did the same until I touched the gas and it started right up...so I reved it up a bit and as so as I let off the gas i stalled with no struggle..like I turned the key off...so I started it again, and the same thing...i dont have any Idea what it could be :( ...does anyone else...any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would check for vacuum leaks first

then check your idle air control valve

I would have to go with the IAC valve. My car did the same exact thing back in the spring. Pulled it out, cleaned it, then adjusted it. Still nothing. So I just went down to the parts store and bought a new one. Bingo.

I have a 88' camaro with a 350 but it did have a 305 in it, i swaped it. But any ways mine when i would start it, it would die. I would set there and have to rev it up untill it would get warm then it would barley stay cranked just enough for me to get it in gear. Sorry i dont have any advice about it im in the process of fixing more than a few things on mine. But it sounds like the same problem on mine. Good Luck

Does it rev and drive OK, except the idle??
