My Pro Torque converter came with NO bolts. My trans builder told me the stock bolts wouldn't be strong enough, and I need grade 8.
I got grade 8 bolts from Discount Auto, but they're too long (bout 1/2"). The stock bolts fit fine, but if they're not strong enough, then that is not an option.
My trans install is tomorrow at 10am and I NEED these bolts by tomorrow morning!!!!
Where can I get grade 8 bolts in that size? Would NAPA have them??
Thanks
Matt

can't you cut the bolts down to the right size? Use a hacksaw or dremel.

the stock bolts should be a grade 8 or 9.8 (equivalent in metric) I'm pretty sure they are english threads so it will be grade 8.. distingished by 3 dashes on the head of the bolt

mine were grade 8. i just re-used stockers with my holeshot 2400 and 383 engine. i've had no problems with about 2k miles on it.

Yeah I just cleaned up the stock bolts...they fit fine so I'm gonna re-use them. They're rated 9.8 Metric btw, which has a 130,000psi tensile strength. Grade 8 SAE has a 150,000 tensile strength, so it's strong, but not quite as strong as grade 8.

its considered a equivalent in the engineering world.

You could have also taken your stock bolts to Lowe's and probably found some grade 8 bolts that matched them. They sell all kinds of bolts.

I'm pretty sure I used my stock bolt too. It's been over a year and no problem yet.

or you could just cut the ones you already bought down! its not hard and will work perfectly as long as you dont ****up all the threads.
