Hi, I'm new to the board and new to owning Camaro's. I have a '99 Z-28, purchased over the summer as my first car. It's been problem free up until about a month ago, I started hearing a ticking, fluttery sound coming from the front of the car. I've been reading around the forums for a while and from what I've read, my problem sounded similar to what people were calling piston slap. The only thing that's making me think it's something else is that even when I let the car warm up, but it doesn't go away. It will not make the sound at idle, only in drive (it's an auto) and over 1500 RPM.
I checked and nothing seems to be loose, like a belt or something. It's running fine, there's no other problem than the sound. Is this piston slap or anything to be really concerned about, am I going to have problems down the road or is it just "one of those things these cars do"? I'd just rather find out now, incase it is a big deal and causes bigger problems later on. Like I said, I'm new to this...thanks!
