Mods in sig. im going to get dynoed in a couple of weeks, but it will be in denver, so loss of air to an extent. What do you guys think? 400hp maybe?

Do you have a LS6 intake, Cutout, or underdrive pulley? Without those, you'll have trouble getting to your 400rwhp goal.

I dont have any of those three. the pulley didnt seem worth it. Seems like i would use a cutout about 2 times a year. As for the LS6 intake, lots of time and $. I dont think 400hp will be that hard to get, but maybe you are right. either way, even having 390ish to the wheels aint half bad. either way, maybe 400 at the crank fairly easy.

you'll be close..but i think the intake will really hinder you.

look at my setup....similar cam....382hp and i had the intake, pulley and basically a loudmouth exhaust.

The pulley is worth 7 or so, the intake is worth about the same... you'll need those two along with the cutout to get anywhere close to your expectations. Without those you are just setting yourself up for dissapointment. I'm thinking 365 to 375 with your lack of supporting mods. When you dyno the car, it will be cool if you can come back and tell me that I'm wrong.

"The pulley is worth 7 or so"

:blah: i'd like to see proof of that....or are you taking the manufacturer's word on that gain.

realistically...probably worth 2-3hp...maybe 5#s of torque.

i've seen dyno runs on an LT1 with an underdrive that gained less than 1hp. granted they are not belt driven water pumps like the L98 or LS1...but still. i don't see it equalling 7hp.

ls6 too much money? you can get one used for about 290-350 shipped or so.

in your sig i see a cam (300+) which needed springs/retainers/pushrods/maybe lifters? and i see headers...i dont think the ls6 is too much since other mods you have in your list.

intake is supposed to be worth about 5-15 rwhp.

I'd be surprised if you make 400rwhp. You deffitinly need the LS6 intake manifold, ASP Pulley would help out with about 5rwhp as well. I have EVERY single bolt on(minus cutout) there is plus the FM14 cam, which is about the same size as yours, and I made 409rwhp tuned.

but also remember every car is different.

for example. my car has all the bolt ons basically, a similar cam to the FM14...233/233 .589"...and i only dynoed 382 hp.

granted this was on a mild (leaning towards crappy) tune, and a slipping clutch. but still the clutch didn't seem to let go till after the peak.

i'm planning true duals and some other stuff...then a re-tune this winter.

...As for the LS6 intake, lots of time and $.

Lots of time? You could install an LS6 intake in the amount of time it takes to change your spark plug wires. It seems like your given reasons are used to justify you not having an LS6 intake- so whatever works.

A cutout, even cheaper and WELL worth the gains in torque and power. Grab a used cut out and pay a muffler shop $30 to install it on the way to get dynoed- you'll thank yourself for it.

Anyway, as I step off my soapbox- best of luck to you and most importantly have an enjoyable time. We're all ragging you about not having this or that bolt-on, but after you see a REAL hp number, we probably won't be able to stop you from making your car meaner. ;)

300 may not be much money to you but it is to me. im in college and i dont have a job durring the semester. i spent every penny of summer earnings on my setup, and yes i got all the springs retainers pushrods etc. and installed everything myself. the intake looked rather difficult to remove to me, could be wrong. but 300, yeah, lotta dough when you gotta pay the bills and groceries only on savings. we will see. i like the idea of maybe getting the 400hp without the nit picking of the smaller mods. if i get like 397hp, and i didnt get that overpriced pulley, hey, im not going to be in a bad mood. i will still have more power than a full bolt on ls1 that didnt upgrade the cam. Thats my thoughts.
Anyway, thanks for the input fellas. :)

That makes two of us then. I bought my LS6 intake shipped for $250. A really good deal, but even that is a lot of money to me, a poor college student.

As for the pulley, I'd do a cutout and intake before that anyway. FWIW, my bolt-ls1 car has pretty good traction, but will break the tires loose in 1st and second under WOT acceleration. When I take the lid off my cutout, it's a different story. Bye bye traction. For the price, and for the increase you'll see I strongly encourage you to try and stick a cut out in your exhaust so you can open it when you're at the dyno.

Good luck. What's your major?

Political Science-Senior up for B.S.

Anyway, ill think about the cutout, but it wont be anytime soon. if i did get a cutout, it would be electronic. no use in crawling around under the car, plus i could open it for a dose of the CAM  . Ill think about it.

No sense in electric if you only open it "two times" a year. It only takes 30 seconds (literally) to pop the cover off.

Lastly, you can always add the actuator after the cutout is installed on the car. The QTP is supposed to work great with the popular and cheap Flowtech. Just going over common knowlege stuff.

Good luck.

HA i find most of us are poor college kids, i am as well... i dont know how "POOR" we are, HAHAHA all of us driving our fuel guzzeling camaros with corvette engines whipping the hell out of ricers day in and day out... and we're griping about 300 bucks on a manifold when katrina rips lousianna a new one.. god i love my car LOL. he be sure to post a link to your actual dyno run. i'd love to see, i dont know if mine will benifit from the mods as much.. i was lucky and got one of the few cars that came unnaturally higher in HP.. (321HP at wheels) bone stock, with 75k miles

Yeah, poor as i can be while still having the car for sure. I dont know when i will be able to be dynoed, a couple of weeks im sure, and it will start to be cooler weather soon, and that should help. Im anxious to see the numbers, i guess as long as it is higher than a car with just boltons, i cant go wrong.
